Look for a SWR 750 - sounds great, heller loud (750 watts) and available in your price range. It's what I use all the time.

Another vote for the GK 700rb-II or a used 1001rb. Rock solid reliable (couldn't say that about my Hartke HA4000) for the time I had it. With my 700 and a Schroeder Mini 12R, I had a small rig that was louder than most folks' 4x10 rigs.

Me too. This is my small rig.

No, you're not. Like a third of us are bass players, if not more.

+3 for the ha3500. I rocked one for two years.
GK400 rb is an awesome bass amp for the $$$
I would recommend a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0. Super light and LOUD!

Their solid state stuff sucks and their tube stuff is way outta his (and my) range. But I do too.

I got a V4b in excellent condition for $550 last year. :idk:

Also, I played through a few of these older-looking units sporting what appeared to be a VU Meter and a simple large-slider-equipped graphic EQ. No idea what brand/model. They were pretty neat - if you see something like that, try it out.
