BTW thankyou for the DC jack tip. you started something here. I'm ordering 50 of them from mouser right now. I have an obsession with cramming more shit into tiny boxes. the neutric pcb mount 1/4 jacks with metal threads are discontinued.

I have a You Dirty Rat that I took apart years ago to use the switch for something else. I recently purchased the old Rat IC because I was thinking of building one. So, if I swapped the IC's and changed the clippers to silicon I would have an old school Rat?

Maybe a little OT, but what's the smallest that one can build a classic Rat type circuit? My big-box reissue won't fit into a bag I was going to use for a new small pedal-board (way too tall!), and I frigging love that thing. So I need something that'll fit, and smaller is better while I'm at it. I'm fine with an adapter rather than 9V, and don't care about looking classic.

It'd be pretty easy to build one MXR sized. I wouldn't go much smaller than, just because of the knobs.

Pretty sure I saw a rat in a 1590a actually. on the "Show me your 1590a projects" thread here:

Nice APC! I built mine into an altoids tin with CdS cells rather than pots to make it fit.
