Ah, this is a very common technique! See, he stole Thom Yorke's voice and added a bit of opera. And I'm pretty sure, by his own admission, Yorke stole it from Jeff Buckley... I made this little poster thingy to track the vibrato LOL... you could do another one that showed Yorke in the middle and his influence... it would be like, Muse, Coldplay, Travis, for vocals...

An important distinction to make!

Muse have some okay songs. If you can't hit every note on "Knights of Cydonia" on at least medium difficulty you have some work to do

Muse has like two songs that I really like, but so much garbage. Broken clocks are right twice a day yada yada.
