from what I've heard, the Ric police are pretty ridiculous...

yes they are total pit bulls

i had a sneaking suspicion FLCL played a part in your decision haha. and sadly I lack the mutton chops to be Lemmy, so Beatles it is. nothing against the beatles, but it is possible to play a ric or an epiphone casino and not be emulating them.

speaking of the beatles, apparently John Lennon was a violent douchebag who beat his first wife?

That's what life's about, I guess, Lennon surely would agree.

BTW: why is it that always when Rush Geddy Lee comes up on ILF, people start bashing? What has he/they done to deserve that? :?: Seems like a trend to me.

i personally have never spoken of Rush on ILF, but now that you mention them, i just don't really get them. i respect them as musicians, but you'll never see me listening to them.

exist :p

Really though it's more of a backlash for me against being told how awesome they are in every music publication I've read since I can remember and then there are forums filled with uberfans that all circle jerk about how awesome they are.. and well I just don't care for their music so I think what you see on hear is just us releasing that annoyance...

I fucking love Rush!
I know there a few people around here who don't like them, but, that's cool.
Geddy has made me want a Ric for sooooo long.

I like to make fun of Geddy's singing. The Trees especially.
I don't listen to Rush, though. Pretty much:

Are you more concerned with it looking similar to a Ric, or sounding like a Ric?

If it's the looks, then you're going to have to hunt down one of the japanese copies.

If it's the Ric tone, then an old Peavey T-40 will get you 90% of the way there for somewhere in the 300-400 range. They really are fantastic basses with a shitload of different tonal options. The only downside is that they are heavy as shit, like 11 or 12 pounds.
