Ok, this is kinda how I feel about this. No offense, but to me this just feels like a boutique approved, hipster endorsed, nostalgiac love-in version of digital multi-effects pedals like the Line 6 stuff that is so very much maligned on this forum. Maybe I'm just being paranoid or snobbish or dickish (or drunk as fuck) or whatever, but I find it somewhat hard to believe that cartridges will have the same sound, the same je ne sais quois, as the standalone pedals. :idk:

This is funny to me, because once the Console really takes off, and if you're still saying :

... you'll be the one people are calling a nostalgic hipster. :animal:

Nothing would make me happier than to be proven wrong in what I said, and I truly meant no offense. I just tend to take stuff like this with a grain of salt, I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from with this.

I understand people aren't always comfortable with change.

... but as to your concern about sounding different, they won't. In fact, in regards to my own fuzzes, they'll have more features on top of the stock sounds. :thumb:

You definately have my interest with this, but I'm going to wait until clips/opinions are available before I make a decision. I am in no way resistant to change, and I'm not meaning to be hostile towards this (and I apologise if I came off that way), but I have trepidations towards anything that seems too good to be true or revolutionary because (and again, no offence intended) a lot of shit that makes claims of this nature simply doesn't pan out. I'd be happier than a pig in shit if the Console does work as you claim (why wouldn't I be, it would save me a metric fuck ton of money), I'm simply airing my concerns.

Well a) I don't claim this to be revolutionary by any means..... and b) It's really simple electronics... I mean, there is literally nothing different other than size of parts between the fuzzes I'm building now and the carts that are going to be made for the console.

... so, like... there's no speculation or anything... it's a simple matter of physics... lol.

I am glad there's not already a SMD vs. The Mojo discussion

Ah yes, physics, the fickle mistress of us all...

But seriously, I think I've gotten way off track from my intial point. I'm in no way against the technology or the builder. I just find it odd that the general consenus of this forum tends to be against new-fangled digital multi-effects, but yet when what is essentially a multi-effects platform appears from a cool builder using antiquated technology, most people seem to be very much in favour of it.

I like the idea - I commute between a house (with a shitty solid state amp to fuck around on) and a rehearsal space (with my nice big amp, pedalboard and all my other crap) and I'm always saying "gee I wish I had this pedal right now to fiddle with while my wife's at work" but I'm not going to lug my guitar and my heavy ass board around with me. I'd totally be fine with transporting one pedal between, or being able to leave the console at home since my op amp Muff is at my space..... also I do really like a lot of the pedals I see on the board and at fuzzhugger and when I go to Moog Audio but I simply cannot afford to drop money on all of them.......... it would also be cool to save some real estate on my board, I do happen to like EHX pedals so with a DMM and a Muff and a Holy Grail that leaves little room for anything else..........

Great plan, I would be really excited to hear some samples, and maybe even comparisons between the cartridge and the actual pedal? I think that would put people's minds at ease.........

:joy:

But its not digital (at least inherently so) and its not a multi fx
basically right now its a customizable dual pedal, with module options from all your favorite ILF builders
no digital readouts, submenus, effects you'll never use etc.
plus it has hip ILF cred

devi... what's the size specs on the carts? are they shielded? is there any chance in hell they can house small, standard non-SMD components? what will the cost be for bulk, blank carts? can i ask more than 5 questions? do you prefer plain band-aids or cartoons?

edit: read fail.

Unfortunately the current format used for the Effector 13 Console II requires a cartridge to be designed with SMD components which isn't very user friendly for the casual DIY enthusiast. Fortunately there will be an adapter available so that you can plug any standard breadboard into the Effector 13 Console II for prototyping purposes.

it seems as though you've already got the design going, but inserting them into the side might be a bit "safer"?

send me an email, though. i'd like to be involved and have 2 ideas that would be pretty neat and would work in there!

I think the way that Foxrox has implemented a similar idea in the Zim seems like it would be more practical....way less cool looking.....but more practical....I wish the Zim had possibilities for circuits from other builders, though....that is where the Console really is a great idea.

For performing I guess the concept of the ZIM is great, but I think for home-usage the console is ideal.. You don't want to screw a pedal open every few hours.. At least I am not:P

yeah it looks like you could change out a fuzz or boost or ect. during a live set.
Im excited
