Earthbound Audio Supercollider

Demo is a little drawn out and not very creative riff-wise, but I wanted to go through all the modes and settings so that you could hear the full range, as well as compare it to a Pharaoh since a lot of people are familiar with that one. There are a few demos on Youtube already, but the ones the illustrate the more metal style tones are pretty poor quality.

I'm playing first through a Dean MLX w/ EMG 60 and 85, and then at 10:51 I switch to an Ibanez AXS32 with two passive DiMarzio Bluesbuckers. I do switch between pickups at various times, so if you hear it suddenly get smoother/muddier then I'm probably on my neck pickup. Amp is a Vox AD100VTH and speaker being mic'd is an Eminence Swamp Thang. Using a Blue Yeti directly into computer's USB. No post processing.

I have a EA SC '71.... I can't pick my favorite fuzz, but it's tied with the Algal Bloom and Buzzz. and Eau Claire Thunder.

dig the demo!

The SC '71 I own is currently my favorite Muff style fuzz. Maybe my favorite fuzz in general. I almost got a standard SC when they were on sale last week, but someone said Mark is doing another run of smaller enclosures later this year, so I'll pick one of those up to pair with my big box '71. :)

I also own a pharaoh, and I like the '71 SC better. The tone controls are way easier for me to dial in the sound I want, and in general, it sounds thicker and heavier. That said, you can EQ them to sound quite similar, when both set to Si clipping.

Question for folks, regarding tone control settings:

On the '71 SC (or standard SC), where are people setting the EQ? I mostly use single coil guitars, but no matter what, it seems like I always dime the mids, and then keep tone and mass around noon. Sounds killer!

I EQ'd my '71 just about the same way when I had it. sometimes with the tone knob at 1 or 2 with the mids rolled back a tad to even it out. I use a vmjm.

I recommend the '71 to everyone looking for a muff or their first fuzz :)
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

I don't have a mids knob, but I believe the switch up is about noon on the knobbed version.

Depth (which is now mass) at full, tone is at like 1:30/2:00

That's on bass, though.

I'll most likely pick up one of the smaller enclosure '71s when they come out, killer box.

No problem! Great pedal, hope to use it a lot more in a doom project soon. For those of you that have the '71, how different would you say it is vs. the standard version? Hard choice for me between the two, figured I'd start with the regular version and go from there.

Well, I haven't played the standard, but there's a comparison on YouTube. The '71 is voiced specifically for guitar, and the standard is voiced more for bass (obviously still is awesome for guitar). So, I think the '71 is a little looser, with less bass, more pronounced midrange.

It was a real hard decision for me when I bought mine, but I decided to go with the '71 since I'm a guitarist and I don't often play stoner metal (more hardcore/post-punk). Super happy with it. Again, so happy that I want a standard, too. Haha. :thumb:

I suck at guitar (and all other instruments), but here's mine.

(BTW, we have this pedal available at Stomp.club if you are interested in trying it)

I love my original Supercollider. Mine is Version 1 with a toggle for Mids - I was toying with the idea of getting one with a Mids knob because I like a heavy mids emphasis (hoping for even more), but I got pulled into a different project. But the Supercollider rules. Mine was built on a turret board for extra magic (when Mark said he ran out of etched boards for a minute). So mine is worth a million dollars.
