Oh my god, what have I gotten myself into? I'm building a baritone from parts and there are too many options for everything. I've spent the entire night comparing pickups and UGH. It's gonna be awesome when I finish it though. Even if that ends up being next year sometime.

Building a guitar from parts is one of the coolest things I've ever done. Feels really good if you've done the right research! What PUs did you settle on?
Remember: If you're buying new, ALL necks need fretwork. Even the fancy necks, like Warmoth and what not. The difference before and after is insane. Night and day, I tell ye!

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I'm building a baritone Telemaster/jazzcaster. I'm getting a DC Kunkle neck and he'll do the fretwork for you. I'll probably still need to take it to tech when I'm done.
I think I'm gonna do a p90 in the neck and then a tele style bridge with a quarter pounder.
I'm definitely not going to be able to do this for less than $500 but that's okay. It's gonna be so worth it.

Only $500? That makes me feel like I'm being too extravagant since my Bass VI seems to be coming out to ~$1200

I mean, I'm sure I'm not factoring in something.
The neck and body are gonna be about $175 each. I was originally going to get a painted mjt body but that shit's like $400. So I went with Saylor guitars. Really fast communication and good service.
So yeah, it'll probably be closer to a grand after all is said and done.

I was just making sure haha, I think my order from Warmoth is going to be close to $600 between the body and the neck, and then all the miscellaneous parts.

Warmoth is probably better quality than the parts I'm getting but I'm on a budget.

Left-handed (fucking curse)
Swamp Ash Body
Wenge Neck/Pau Ferro fretboard
Creamery Pickups
Staytrem Bridge
Mastery Vibrato
Creation Audio Redeemer Buffer
I decided that if I'm building the only guitar I'll probably every use, I'm gonna go all out on it.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Damn son!
I was gonna go with swamp ash but all he had was northern ash and its apparently pretty heavy, so I went with alder. 28.75 scale because the 30" is just slightly too big for me to comfortably do some of the chords/shapes I can do on my Les Paul.
I was originally looking for a baritone telecaster but I realize I really prefer offset bodies. So then I was thinking jazzmaster but I really just want a simple hardtail riff machine. So, Telemaster it is. If I really want a Vibrato later I can add a bigsby, but I probably won't.
I'm going to stain it myself to save some bucks. I want to do a deep red/oxblood stain with black pickguard and chrome hardware. Gonna be classy as fuuuuuck.

This will be my first offset body, but I'm happy to play one.
I'm going to stain my body as well. Trying to think which color to stain it with but I'm oddly excited for staining it.

Me too! I painted an old Bass and it turned out pretty good, so I think the stain is gonna be even better.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Anybody know which Korg Toneworks had ring mod? I know my AX1000G did. There is way more of those units than I remember...I have way better ring mods, but just curious. Just seemed like an odd choice for a multi-fx pedal from that era (or any really...except it seems to fit the bitquest well).
