Popol Vuh the excellent makers of kosmische musik versus Popol Vuh the Norwegian typical 70s rock band featuring the first guy to ever get zero points in the Eurovision lol contest.

Back to the original question - most of the original Orchid is in Ritual Mess now...
They used to shop at my store(s) in CT - good guys.

I loaned Will a guitar head for a tour. Seemed like a cool guy. That demonbrother record he did recently is absolutely raging too.

I've seen records of this other Orchid around, it confused me too at first. Never checked them out though. I'm all about the Amherst, MA Orchid. Also dig that Ritual Mess record, and basically anything recorded at Dead Air Studios.
Read this interesting interview with Will Killingsworth the other day, where he talks about gear: http://www.cmhwak.net/2010/10/interview ... worth.html

Re: The doom band "Orchid" needs to change their name.
We got through this thread without mentioning Nirvana, I think.
The 1960s band Nirvana felt (somewhat justifiably) that their legacy had been erased by the existence of the 1990s band. I think Nirvana ended up paying them over $100,000 in damages... but I'm not sure where I heard that. I think I read it in this book. IMO nobody gives a shit because the 1990s band is (obviously) quite a bit better. Is that fair? Probably not.
Also there's the whole 1980s death metal band called Death and then there's the 1970s Detroit punk rock band called Death. I was super excited to watch a documentary on the former and it ended up being a documentary on the latter. It turned out to be pretty good anyway!

The 70's Death guys (and Rough Francis) are great dudes. Watching that band go from the dads of guys I used to see at shows all the time to a cult hit was pretty mindblowing -- although I think I like Lambsbread a little better than Death.

I lived in Burlington for like 5 years. It's not a big place, and if you're into local music at all you sort of run into everyone. Very nice people, in my experience.
