Wow, so many awesome fucking recommendations!

Here's what I think (based on cursory listens only, keeping in mind that music usually has to grow on me).

I discovered Gai after Boris paid tribute to them on the "hardcore version" of their Vein LP. I also found out about Gloom and Confuse that way and fuck... does Japan ever do crust right!

Bands I was pretty meh about overall...

Okay, lordgalvar, I totally feel you on every other street punk doing this voice. It's too much. I wasn't really talking about the "Oi" type rough voice, the Rancid voice. Got old in high school! So yeah.

Holy shit, Leatherface is exactly what I was looking for! What's the best record to go for IYO? And Ghostlimb isn't really what I had in mind but I fucking love it anyway. Reminds me of Josh Scogin at his best (The Chariot if they had riffs instead of random white noise and feedback). I'm gonna buy that Ripcord LP at some point, too. Phenomenal.

Hey, and I thought of a few more on my own. Can't believe I forgot Fucked Up, who are basically Titus Andronicus from Canada (well, I guess Titus Andronicus are Fucked Up from America).
