Re: RAT ATTACK
maybe youre right.
either way, i played it at a gig the other day into my super reverb. sounded really good. had the volume cranked up pretty high. distortion around 11 o'clock. rally sounds great with fender spring. also sounds super good with my micro amp punching it in the face.

I can never get a Rat to sound like I want on Bass. I always wanted that Young Widows / Metz rat bass sound but it always just sounded like a regular ol dirt to me.

I never could get any of the regular ones to sound like that, but I got an Acid Age Acid Pig and the dist. setting is pretty much spot on for young widows on bassneonblack wrote:I can never get a Rat to sound like I want on Bass. 2. my bassist has been looking for a distortion to replace his bass big muff. hes looking for sort of the same thing. he was actually looking at possibly getting a rat when i got mine. he hasnt tried mine yet but our friend is sending him a turbo rat to try. he was also looking at getting a fuzzrocious grey stache. wonder how that would do. definitely encouraging that purchase.

Ah yes, the Bass big muff. Gateway drug to fuzz. Gets them hooked but leaves them wanting more.

Stash is a rad piece of kit. It's like a GGG/Civil War muff if I remember correctly.

Re: RAT ATTACK
I've given my VR Rat the switchable double ruetz mod, and it sounds awesome on bass. It takes away a bit of gain and some of the high frequencies. Gives the Rat a more overdrive feel than distortion. And when I want the original Rat sound it's just a flick of the switch away. Or I can flick the other switch and it makes the Rat into a treble boost. A lot of people hate the ruetz mod but I love it.neonblack wrote:I can never get a Rat to sound like I want on Bass. Re: RAT ATTACK
I used to use it on bass. I don't think grind is the word I would use to describe it. It's either buzzy or wolly, although the no diodes(? mine is from the very first run so I'm a little foggy on the specifics) spot on the switch can get some grind, I guess.echodeluxe wrote:do you think its got enough grind for bass?
I should really get mine fixed/cleaned up. Something went weird with it.

Re: RAT ATTACK
Yeah the BBM sounds kinda shitty, tbh, which is a shame because EHX were hitting all the right notes as they were marketing it/rolling it out. The fact that it essentially replaced the Russians was awful.
So, in short, the Stashe sounds fucking awesome (or at least it did when it came out ~5 years ago) but it might not be the right thing to be looking at.
