Recommend me some phasers.

Post by bdunlap »

Name some great/unique phasers that you've heard of/used/own. I'm trying to find "The One" for me, and I have some ideas.

-Sitori Sonic Phase
-Boss PH-1r
-ADA Final Phase
-Dead Sea Electronics Psilosonic

Any other good boutique ones I missed? And what's your personal favorite phase?

Vintage Fender Phaser reissue.

Obnoxiously huge but awesome sounding and looking. The spinning light around the dial to show the speed of the phase sweep is awesome. Super transparent too, such a clean sound.

Finding "the one" is sometimes hard. I've tried a bunch and keep coming back to a 70's MXR phase 45 script, which is also the first pedal I ever tried using [I found it in a drawer. It was my Mom's from the 70's but she never liked it so when I found it and liked it it was given to me  ] and nothing fits what I do better. So if I was to buy a new phase I'd get another old one, the Mojohand nebula, or the reissue.

I have others like the moog and 2 smallstones [70's and sovtek] but for me when I run dirt into them they are over the top for the sound I want so I keep going back to my 45 for my live rig.

The moog is is now part of my mooger setup.

Hey who's tried a Badstone? That one's always interested me...

And i've only heard one set of clips for the A/DA Final Phase but it sounded good, nice and crazy but also rich... from the schematic it looks like one fine design.

Other than that, I agree with Mudfuzz, i've always liked the slow subtle sweeps of the Phase 45... oh and I hear the Mutron Bi-Phase is good but good luck finding one :thumb:

Who are you? Why do you know this? Because you are correct. And I has. :omg:

I have always wanted a FP-777 though.

The original Bad Stone is fantastic. Does a great vibrato too.

Image

My all time favourite phaser is still the Maestro PS-1 though...

Image

The MuTron Phasor II is really good.

New, cheap and good? How about the Whirlwind orange phaser? It's basically a Script Phase 90, and sounds identical to my original 1974 Script.
EDIT: It also only costs about $100

(Yes, I'm a phaser junkie)

Yes I know the sound well, I own one, I've owned one for like 18 years. Yeah great for recording, sounds killer, but I find the volume drop to be a problem, a problem which either the green or black Sovteks don't have neither the Nano, although I don't really care for the sound of the nano [sounds thin to me] very much.

Solve the volume drop with a couple of resistor changes. Take you 10 minutes.
