Anyone run their guitar into a bass amp
I'm a bassist in a band, guitarist on the side. I have a hartke LH500 into a gk mbe-II. When I started playing guitar I just ran it through my bass amp out of necessity. I recently got a fender Princeton 65 fixed (it had been my brothers but it wouldn't turn on and I never felt like taking it in to get fixed until now) and I gotta say, I prefer running it through the bass amp. It's weird, but even with the treble all the way down, mids around 12, and bass all the way up, the princeton sounds way too harsh to me. The LH500 is just so warm and nice.
Anyone else run their guitars through bass amps?

I play guitar though a bassman, and jtm45 which is basically a clone of the bassman. Both sound great. I prefer using a closed back cab with the bassman whn running bass through it, but open back sounds nice and punchy too.

I've used a Concert Bass, Bass 400+ and SVT all for guitar at one point. All were loud and clean.

I use a science mother precisely because it's loud and clean.

Traynor YBA-3.
Loud and (mostly) clean.
Takes pedals like a champ. Pretty great EQ. Fucks the mix.

Sunns and Ampegs around here. In fact everyone in my band plays a bass amp. Big, loud, and clean is the way to go. UL output stages in the Sunns are just peachy.

I recorded some guitar through a Rumble 75 (I think). Once I got the EQ right and fed it some Muff it actually sounded really nice.

I run my guitar into an Acoustic 450 with a 406 cab for sludgey doom. Sometimes I split the signal and feed it into the Acoustic and a 2x12 guitar combo if I need more crisp.

Stereo into an Ampeg BA112 on one side, and a Fender Blues Jr. on the other. Bass is set clean, Fender for drive. They're both usually screaming from fuzz or sequencers, but...it covers a big chunk of the frequency spectrum.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I've seen James Plotkin do it, if that rings a bell. Ampeg solid state head (spacing out on the name, one of the common ones) and an Ampeg 8x10. Beefaroni.

Yeah, on guitar. Every bass I've ever heard through a bassman sounded like cold shit in the bed on a saturday morning.Uncle Grandfather wrote:I play guitar though a bassman, and jtm45 which is basically a clone of the bassman. Both sound great.

depends on the model of bassman. Those 130 watt heads sound great being pushed really hard if you have a drummer who doesn't hit hard enough.

Princeton 65 is a bright little SS puppy to be honest as well from an era nobody wanted them.
I used to use a Bassman head and 1x15 cab as my "small" rig for guitar. Sounded just fine.
Basically, all a bass amp does for you is put you in the "must use pedals for dirt" category.

Re: Anyone run their guitar into a bass amp
My buddy has a '65 Bassman head that sounds fucking awesome on guitar. I actually don't think I ever tried playing bass through it.
I used to have an early '70s Marshall Superbass, with one channel converted to superlead specs. Sounded great with guitar before the mod, but patching the inputs to blend the guitar and bass sides to taste was just pure bliss.
My main amp these days: 70s Traynor YBA-1, which I think was supposed to be a bass amp as well. Oozes with low end mojo. Stupid loud for being 45watt. Tons of clean headroom, takes pedals like a mahfakker.
