Rehousing a dmm?

Post by misterstomach »

Anyone done this or know if it's feasible? I have a big box reissue. I of course wouldn't mind it being a little smaller, but also I'm hard on stuff and this giant flimsy box is getting dented and fucked up and I'd rather not fuck it up much more. I do kind of love the large pizza box, but I'm just considering other options.

I'd love to see pics if anyone has some.

Thanks.

Pop the back off, look at the size of the board. That'll tell you right off if it's feasible to rehouse.

Not a DMM fan, so...don't have one to pop open.

Have a couple Frequency Analyzers I've considered doing it to though.

Yep, that's what I suspected. Some of the EHX stuff is crammed in a giant box for no reason (Hi, Bassballs, I'm looking at you!) but a lot uses that space.

You might be able to find a sturdier box, but as it is, just accept that it'll look like hell soon.

That's why all the old vintage EHX stuff looks like it's been through a war nine times out of ten.

IIRC there was a 1 to 1 DIY copy of that very board layout which someone built in to a 1590D sooo, you might get it in one but i'd measure up first.

The transformer might be an issue depth wise if yours has one though.

thanks, y'all. i posted rather than opening the pedal cause i won't actually see my pedalboard again for another week or so and when i do i've got other gear i've got to open up and fuck with, so i thought i'd ask here. i kind of figured that if was very doable you'd see a lot more of them rehoused and it'd be a lot easier to find info or pics (my searches yielded almost nothing). i guess i'll just continue to roll with it as is. already looks beat up anyway, just gotta try not to let it too dented up.
