Originally Inca Silver, it's been Krylon'd gold and played hard (and looks amazing, IMO). Gonna replace the humbuggie with a couple Jazzmaster pickups w/ creme covers and drop in a Blacktop JM vibrato... got a blank Jag control plate for the top, something special's gonna go in there...
Need to round up a couple of Jag knobs and a black JM switch tip and she'll be ready to rock and roll!
Rough re-shaping of the pickguard... lots of sanding done since this photo, still a little bit more to go. Not perfect, but it looks a damn sight better... would have gone a lot faster if my Dremel hadn't died!
Still need to get a switch tip, and after stringing it up briefly I decided it needs a tone circuit... these CIJ JM pickups are bright!
Will eventually strip and paint it, and I'll get a guard cut (instead of my hack job with the original Blacktop 'guard), but for now I'm kinda digging the trashy aesthetic...
That was originally my plan - a modified Bazz Fuss circuit stuffed between the pickups with the battery under the blank upper control plate. I was just going to "swimming pool" the pickup route, but the guy that routed for the vibrato was nice enough to put a block in and give it the proper JM pickup treatment... it's too nice to foul up by tryna stuff a fuzz circuit in it now!
