I was thinking about including medium delays in the thread title, but didn't. :idk: Medium delays are OK too. :D

I use both. Many times together.

I've been really digging a quick delay with like 4 or 5 repeats pre dirt for crazy stuff and a long muddy one at the end for the wash.

The longer the better (twss). Plenty of repeats.

I like taking my time with delay. Letting it do its thing and just trying to figure out how to make it evolve.

Really digging faster delays at the moment. Not too much feedback but with the mix past noon.
Interesting textures mixing with other effects.
Makes me play differently, like I'm trying to catch up with the delay if that makes any sense.

things I find fun though: Really long digital delay times that let you layer parts in weird ways, short slap back that fattens and colors, medium brink-of-oscillation feedback, short multihead tape delay, really long analog delay where the repeats sound godawful.

Been digging the sound of stacking a 300D set at 75ms (short delays), in to a 600d at around 150-200ms (maxed-out delays), It gets a really nice dotted sound, but also gives this incredible ROAR, when it gets all overloaded
Have recently been playing the Ghost Delay with all 3 set in and around 100-ish, but all slightly off/different.

Sort of like this: Image

I really like that as well. And what's nice about it, is that you can also set all the Feedback knobs to 0 for really crisp ping-pong-y delay, or open one of the feedback knobs up and get some lovely trails. What I like about it, is that depending on which Feedback knob you choose to open up, it alters the arc of the repeats and decay considerably. Fun!

yeah because I was almost afraid of hijacking your thread man

i mean I can appreciate a shorter pre-dirt delay, but that would mainly be for guitar and recording at home. I love that signature GY!BE sound with delay running into fuzz and stuff... but I am mainly focusin on the band now and playing bass really changed my mind about delays I think :idk: I feel much more restricted when it comes to delay and I also don't use it nearly as much as on guitar :idk: so it's hard to experiment

any bass delay tricks to make awesome sounds?

Either like 150-250mS (Run like hell mebbe?) or 6-800ish very occasionally, don't go in for second or more stuff, that be called a looper.

I like to run a pre dirt reverb/delay super short followed by a medium long analog/modulated delay with lowish repeats then more reverb
