I recorded another weirdo, lofi rock/pop whatever album

Post by colossus »

I start on my PhD in two weeks and needed to close out the summer with some tunes. For those who listened to the last batch of songs and desired a full-band sound, here you go. 8ish tracks, for fans of (maybe?) pavement, silver jews, NMH, and probably some other stuff? It's mostly me, but I got a friend to lay down bass on a couple of tracks since I suck at bass. Recorded over the last two months in Logic with a bunch of random outboard gear and then mixed down to tape for teh mojoz.

Nice! Bit of Sparklehorse in there, which I like. My wife is from New Hampshire and we thought about moving to Keene, but decided just to stay here in Scotland LOL

Thanks! And I think you made a good choice... I'm moving in a week anyhow so now you really have zero reason to move here. I did my undergrad at Keene State and that was nice. Apparently nice enough for me to move back for a year from Providence. But I'm pumped to leave again.

Yeah Keene is a nice place to drink beer in the woods but I'd take Scotland or Providence too, I think. Parts of Scotland, anyway.

Stoked to check out the album.

Checking it out now, loving the first two songs thus far (that's as far as I've gotten). Already forwarded it to a friend who grew up in NH.

Kinda bummed that you weren't doing this when you were in PVD (or that I wasn't aware of it) - I totally woulda come out to watch you play!

I'm sure he'll have loads of free time. It's just a PhD, those types aren't totally stressed all the time forever or anything.

This is true. That's why all of my friends in grad school stretch it out for so long - it's like one long free vacation. Not a care in the world! No rules, nobody to please, no papers to write... man, I should really apply to grad school...

Visiting the in-laws in October, who stay in Manchester, but yeah, it's a real nice place to visit, but I'm sure we made the right choice. We'll always have Jumanji :thumb:

I kinda was but not really doing it out. That first Strange Fog album was done while in PVD, but it was for an audio engineering course right before I moved away. And this stuff was mostly done solo...it's always a struggle finding like-minded people to play with. But thanks man!

I might be seeing Thee Oh Sees and Mutoid Man And Blood Party next week. Which would be sweet.

Thanks!

And I would love love love to see Thee Oh Sees. I enjoy them on record but I don't listen to them that often. However, they seem fantastic live.
