TAFM or Mini/Fuck circuits are baller with keys. Highly recommended for your dirt needs, if you have them.

Same, especially if her role is going to be noise sorceress.

Also, though it might sound like a boring idea, a good soft clipping lower gain overdrive can do wonders for coloring and warming up a cheap keyboard.

ooo yay yay. i have a casiotone 401 that i use all the time and it's almost always going through some pedals. i can make that thing sound very synthy. i use fuck overdrive, deluxe memory man, and the arf.

very important to be able to give it a lot of delay/verb when you want, and also modulation. i think modulation is key especially if you want warbley synth sounds. and if you can, adding a filter is going to open up a huge world of possibilities

I love you guys. :!!!:

Currently planning to get one of those snazzy line6 m5's, a dd-5, a mini and a meatball. Later I'll add a Devicraft bdsm or just skip half of that and go straight for a ruiner. she also wants a bitcrusher ("they make neat boop noises when you turn the knob"), but I'm hoping the m5 has that.

Inconuucl: I can shoegaze that tune with 5 pedals.
other contestant: I can shoegaze that tune with 4 pedals.
Inconuucl: I can shoegaze that tune with 3 pedals.
other contestant: OK, shoegaze that tune!

According to a previous M5 thread on ILF, no dice. (it's the first result in google for "M5 bitcrusher")

I had an old Casio keyboard with some cheesy "beat" styles. Like Bosa Nova or Rock.
Hit the rhythm button and then hit one of the small keys on the side and a schlocky
bass line would play along to the "beats". I used that on this track, but changed keys
partway through the bass line so it sounded less "rock" and more "Middle Eastern".

Effects on the Casio are Amdek Phaser and ProCo Rat and Ibanez DDL-10 Digital Delay II.
I think the same effects are on the slide guitar line, but I used an E-Bow on it too.
The sound of things grinding down to a halt is the "drum fill" button on the Casio through
the Ibanez DDL-10 and then cranking down the Delay Time.

You need some oscillating fuzz! Something like an AB Synth, Wolf Computer, The Great Destroyer, etc. The keyboard dynamics interact really well with the oscillations.
