transporting multiple pedals

Post by D-Day »

Obviously we keep our giggy pedals on pedalboards but how do you folks transport multiple untethered pedals around town? My method of stacking them on top of each other in a brown paper bag is glaringly flawed.

Thanks in advance for your time!

I apologize if there is already a thread for this. I did a quick search and saw nothing so here we are.

I have a toolbox that fits about 8 Boss-ish sized pedals (stacked in two rows of 4) plus a few cables, and I also use a little messenger bag for any extras. Does the trick most of the time.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

My board is just a Pedaltrain nano, and my pedal case is a little bigger than it needs to be so I just keep extra pedals boxed and in the space in my case around my board and cables, when I have extra pedals that is.

For protection, during transport I've seen people use socks (pedal goes inside sock), and t-shirts (wrap). Also, seen people use the original boxes, and tupperware, for more protection.

I also have a friend who carries everything unwrapped in a messenger bag. Of course, all his pedals are scuffed up, are missing knobs, and a couple occasionally stopped working. I'm sure there's no correlation though... ;)

Yeah, wrapped in old band shirts that don't fit anymore in whatever case/bag I'm using... Guitar gig bags, stupid recycleable grocery bags, messenger or laptop bags or I have some old huge sure mic cases I use...

This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

What if you wore a hoody, a jacket, and some cargo shorts. That should give you at least six pockets, some big enough for a timeline. Put your patch cables down in your shorts and you are good to go. The only question is, are you willing to look like a silly ass for them holy tones? :idk:

I like to use clothes for padding, usually I can fit all the pedals I would want to bring in my guitar case/gig bag pockets. but idk just get some kind of bag you like carrying around

Make yourself a small pedal board out of a businessmans briefcase. Remove the hinges and replace with some latches like you would find on a guitar case. Fix the pedals onto the lid of the briefcase and that becomes your gig board and the top shell of the case becomes the protective cover. There might even be room inside for cables, power board too if you lay it all out right.

By the way, I have one of your Ape Blaster pedals. Best one knob fuzz ever :thumb: So much Awesome?

I'm sure a guy on the bus or just walking around a city with a guitar bag and an ammo can isn't going to alarm anyone....
