Digitech x-series Digiverb?

Post by frigid midget »

Digitech guitar peds always kinda stauyed under my radar untill hardwire came along...
Used to have the RV-7, which actually sounded pretty spectacular for the money. I know there's the Polara now too, which probably is bit less conservative.

Anyway, anyone know how the digiverb compares to the later RV-7? I can obviously google the specs myself, I was just wondering if anyone heard em both in action.

A buddy of mine who pretty much quit making music said he'd give me his digiverb. I guess he figured my gratitude is worth more to him than the $25 he could sell the pedal for.

I haven't really answered him yet, didn't want to be greedy, for all I know someone else he knows needs it more than me. I don't have a single reverb pedal at the moment though, at least not if you don't count my Afterneath or my Vox's reverb. So what should expect from it? Cold harsh digital shite, or somewhat convinsing big washed out plate/hall effects?

Depends on how you dial it in. They're not amazing, but they're not godawful.

Depends on how your amp takes it as well.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

I've had one forever, it's been my fallback verb when I flip my nice ones. I've always been very pleased with it. Not amazing, but pretty fucking solid.

They're cool verbs. It's been awhile since I had mine and an RV-7 so I can't recall the similarities and differences 100%. I think the Reverse is the same for both. Spring is definitely improved on the RV-7. I'm not sure if the Digiverb gets 100% wet on settings other than the Reverse. The RV-7 doesn't do 100% wet.

Worth it for the Gated setting. It does go full wet, and you can blend the dry signal with the reverse mode. Without getting into rack gear it is the best sounding and most affordable MBV-style reverb. Loooovvvveeee the gated mode.

Did I mention the gated mode?

Cons: Little bit of a volume drop in reverse mode. No realistic sounding reverbs compared to todays pedals but it excels at making synthetic sounds.

Digiverb is cool as fuck. Get it. It's free. It's not the end all be all reverb, but they're pretty cool and you can do some cool stuff with the 100% wet. If you don't like it I'll pay you a dollar plus shipping, which will actually be a huge profit for you.

PumpkinPieces is dead on. The Gated mode is really nice and I've never heard another pedal that does gate in quite the same way. Really good for MBV type stuff.
