What are some good sampling programs? Something where I can pull audio and manipulate it a bit.

i know that can come across as a bit fanboyish at this point but it's the best i've used so far for mangling sounds compared to audacity, fruity loops or ableton.

I've been loading old tracks that went no where and running them through all kinds of shit has brought them to life

Totally willing to admit that it's entirely an ease of use/layout familiarity thing, but I can do everything I want to my samples in ableton, so...

OTOH, if some natural disaster wiped out all my stompboxes and tone generators and such, leaving me only with a computer, I might reconsider Audiomulch.

I was just reading something about Audiomulch and they were saying it can't do reverse samples or pitch/time stretching. That sounds limiting. Ableton is a big expense and I've already got a DAW I like. For now I'd like to chop/cut/flip/manipulate samples in fairly normal ways.

You should check out the demo of the new TAL Sampler -- it's really cool for the price and seems like it can do what you're looking for.

In AM theres no quick & easy button like in Live, but I think one of the example files uses (one of) the grain contraption & automation to timestretch?

aye, I think anything is possible in audiomulch if you put in the work perhaps just find a VST for sample mangling and load that fucker up?

Audiomulch has a free trial which maybe I'll give a go.

Too anyone hesitating with regards to audiomulch, try out the demo. Its extremely easy and intuitive to get going with it, really well suited to live performance too.

I just bought a sampler, considering actually paying for audiomulch now so I can put some cool stuff on there and work with playing the sampler through pedals.
