Does anyone know if swapping the output cap would alleviate this? I really like the variety of speeds I have available, but none of that shit matters if my low end disappears. If this isn't feasible, does anyone have inexpensive suggestions that would cut less low end? Range of speeds would be nice, but most cheaper pedals don't do pseudo ring mod, so I may have to sacrifice that.

Low end on phasers?
I feel like there's been a million threads on phasers lately, so sorry if this is too many!
So I've been using an Ibanez PM-7 for phasing and ring mod-ish noise, but I've noticed that with a lot of pedal distortion it tends to cut low end. When everything is clean I don't notice it as much.

Re: Low end on phasers?
I'm also interested in a phaser that preserves the lower end of the frequency spectrum.
A dedicated bass phaser would be amazing.
Here's my attempt at starting a bass phaser thread from a few years back:

Doesn't the Faye Sing B have lots of lows on tap?

Re: Low end on phasers?
that's what you get for using a phaser and not a flanger
it's phase cancellation causing that effect right? if so couldn't you design a phaser circuit with a high-pass filter on the phase-altered path, maybe that can also boost the frequencies on the dry path below the same cutoff?
i have absolutely no idea just curious. kinda like how the Iron Ether Polytope high-passes the wet signal to defeat the 'beating' effect that can interfere when using chorus/detune pedals on bassy instruments.

Re: Low end on phasers?
Phasers that have a mix control help. Also, to my ears, high number of stages/high resonance settings are less bass friendly. I like backwardsvoyager's idea--I kinda do the same using crossovers/paraloops....

Both the Small Stone (v.4 and earlier) and Phase 90 are able to retain most of the low end if the bias trim pot is set properly. You could also run a dry signal in parallel with your PM-7 and mix it in until your lows return to a satisfying level.

Never tried this version... but the first version (the faye sing) wasn't doing it for me.neonblack wrote:Doesn't the Faye Sing B have lots of lows on tap?

I just know with version B you can set the low sweep and the high sweep independently so you could get a lot of low throb without too much high end stuff.

you could try running it with a boss line selector in A+B mode to get a dry mix.

Re: Low end on phasers?
The Madbean Stagefright set to 5 or 6 stages (can't remember which) boost bass like crazy. My Small Stone is also ok in the fat setting but nothing near the Madbean. I had a Maestro Stage Phaser once, but I can't remember it being as ballsy as the Madbean clone.

Never met a phaser with any low end issues.

Re: Low end on phasers?
the only phaser I ever found to perform well on the low end on bass is the vintage TC XII B/K phaser (B/K stands for bass/keyboard):

To be clear, I am playing on guitar, not bass. I don't know what it is. I'll have to compare my buddy's Phase 90 and see.
