First Bass (Amp)

I've never owned a bass before but I'm thinking about acquiring a short-scale Squier Jaguar. I don't intend to take it beyond the boundaries of my bedroom but I suppose I probably will need some form of amp. I assume it wouldn't be very compatible with a small (10" speaker) combo (guitar) amp?

were it I (and I'm saying this because I've looked and decided what I'd get) I'd go behringer, line 6 or used TC combo.

I had a friend who had a behringer kickback combo. I want to say it had an aluminum-ish looking speaker and sounded fine. This was 9 years ago so I could be mistaken on the specifics, but the amp was passable for jammin.

Just watch your local craigslist and pick up anything on the cheap. Peavys and Acoustic combos pop up all the time where I live for like $50 - $100 depending on the size.

I grabbed the Fender Rumble 200 as my starter bass amp and I'm very happy with it. You sure don't need anything that big for the bedroom but I'd guess the smaller ones sound pretty good, too. They have a couple that are less than $100 new.

Is the Vox Pathfinder bass amp any good? I know people champion the guitar versions.

I'd try it, I don't think it would be great though, just my prejudice. If you have a good sounding guitar head, a bass cab will work with it.
I understand that bass won't mess up a guitar head, but it will damage the speakers.

Seems as if the Vox is good value but probably not to the same extent as the 15r guitar version.

The vox t bass amp line are pretty dang sweet. There was a t15, t25, and a t60 as far as I can remember. I've got a t25 that I use as a bass amp around the house that I like alot, sounds pretty good with a guitar as well

I have used a bass to break in new guitar amp speakers. Plug the bass into a nasty fuzz like a Companion, then play few heavy I,V,VIII chords on your lower strings. Start at low volume and repeat the process gradually increasing volume until the speaker is about to start to fart out. It works but you have to know the threshold where things can go bad and stop there. Ages them a year in 5 minutes, really loosens up those tight new speaker cones.

Peavey TKO115 can be found pretty easily, pack around 80-100 watts, sound pretty good and sit usually around $150-ish.
