there's this one absolute bastard of a hill from flemington bridge station up to past the zoo. I mean it's not hugely steep, just one of those ones that's a continuous slog, starts with a huge pedestrian ramp then runs along the train line but a little bit lower. So at that time of day it's dark and you can't see shit even with good lights, and there's trains coming past every minute or so, and I have deep dish wheels on my kona so the passage of air from a train passing knocks me like a fucking foot sideways, and you can brace yourself but it's dark and a crap path so it's always a half second of nearly piss yourself as you're blown off course and hit a pothole you can't see. About halfway up you always get stuck at a rail crossing right as you're getting into total FUCK YOU HILL I AM GOING TO KILL YOU mode to so that like interrupts the whole thing. Not to mention that I'd already been out past st kilda and fighting wind off the bay and dodging semi trailers all through docklands for like an hour before that. And the whole time I had that fucking chorus riff that has the pinch harmonic on the end of it and the bass that only doubles the guitar in the fourth bar and basically I wanted to kill everyone ITT.

used to fucking love Pantera, still enjoy it although don't listen actively. I'll choose Pantera over any era of Metallica every day

although I do admit there is something about Dime's tone that makes me wish it was VERY different
