Tube Engine or Tube Screamer

Post by Philsfrills »

I was looking for overdrive on youtube, but this Tube engine is kinda cool, it sounds so similar as Tube Screamer, but almost half price as TS. Never heard of this brand though, Valeton, anyone has idea of this company? :omg: Want to try'em so bad.

I just wanted to have an inexpensive overdrive for my new guitar, I've only been playing for a year.

At least it's sort of relevant and not Ray-bans...

How inexpensive? And what flavor of overdrive are you looking for? Got any clips or youtube vids we can reference? This is ILF, after all. We demand context, even if half of us (myself included) will probably just pepper you with suggestions for our favorite overdrives, half of which are actually oscillating 8-bit fuzzes.

:p

(But seriously, how cheap? And does it have to be a Tube Screamer clone?)

Never heard of that company. Given the name and color, I sort of assume it's a TS clonelike box.

If money is an issue. You should be able to find a used tubescreamer. At this point, tubescreaming is sort of a rite of passage. You gotta have one at some point.

hey OP;
are you playing rock? I mean that very broadly .
The reason I ask is are you new to playing"fuzzy" (as opposed to clean, even if it's overdriving you amp) - it's definitely a change in playing style. How the instrument "handles" is a lot different. So if you listen to music with distorted electric guitar, it's probably one you want to wrap your head around soon.

I think if you picked up a tubescreamer and a rat it'd be a fun introduction with two very iconic designs (and, of course like everyone, you wont be able to resist cascading them for this weirdly fun, supersaturation

So that's what I'm going to suggest, hunt around for a used tubescreamer and a rat and compare/contrast.
