Mine was $340ish as a demo model. Not a thing wrong with it.

I'm debating whether to buy one or to route out a hole in an old cheap guitar. Can't make my mind up...

This thing plays better than the average $100 beater, and has the switching, dist circuit (even if you never use it), etc already onboard.
I ordered a 1/8 to dual 1/4" splitter to run the Kaoss Pad out in stereo as well to the mixer.
Don't get me wrong, it's a $200-250 guitar tops with a little better than average fretwork.

So, basically totally worth what you pay....

Yep. Also a case of the side buttons on the KP are still useable mostly in this cradle, in a home chisel job I doubt they would be.
The gain is better than I thought it'd be after dialing it in a little more. It's METAL JACKHAMMER but....welll....sometimes you genuinely do want that and it works with a lot of the KP patches.

Used relatively tastefully, a duet (left-leaning bitcrusher, right infinite/held reverb), all gain from the in-guitar blaster. Straight into Hot Rod Deluxe on my standard faux jazz setting clean channel..
It of course does all the stupid shit too, but I'm pleased to find some not totally batshit in it too.

Couple pieces of cardboard packing pieces stuck to the body (didn't notice before taking the photo). woodgrain/matte black finish like an even cheaper metal version of the faded Gibson stuff of years past, but well, nothing some stickers won't fix.

It really is a terrible looking guitar. I think that's half of my motivation for doing it DIY style, but yeah you're right there's no way I would do as good a job with the ergonomics. Might have to buy one in the future.

It's going to look terrible routing that out on any body - no hiding the connections or the unit itself.
It's playing well with my other units as well (particularly the Lexicon Vortex, which loves anthing with stupid range and sweep)

It has a few loopers built in. I haven't played with them much yet, too many other toys to play with.

Re: So anybody else have one of the Ibanez cheapies w/Kaos P
the looper fx are more glitchy repeat style loopers than what i mean. plus u can't use any of the other fx while using those looper fx or resample and use more than 1 fx like u could w/ the audio looper.
the minikp2's do have a wav recorder and possibly a loop function but its not a quick button press operation i don't think…?

It's the same as anything else from screwing with it - X/Y activates, controls parameters. Hold keeps whatever the current setting is (no idea if it saves the loop)
To be fair, I'm not going to be using this as my *only* effect ever as a matter of course. Not even my beloved Space Echo fills that role!
The other thing that I'm waiting on is a 1/8 TRS to 1/4 TS dual adapter so I can run the headphone out to the board and take advantage of the KP's stereo features (as well as run the guitar out with the mono sum into the pedalboard.
