Re: Janice Cabs
Wait.
Say anything is still a band? I thought they broke up in like 2007?
Unrelated but I kind of got the feeling from the brand new rig rundown that Jesse totally knows more than he lets on. We all walk a line between "know it all" and "knows nothing about gear." I think he just erred pretty heavily on the side of not knowing much.

Yeah! They put out a great album in 2007, another pretty okay one in 2009, a medicore/bad-ish one in 2012, and another great one last year. That was an incredible one musically as they put a limit on themselves musically: no guitars. Hence touring with a string quartet... most of the album is strings and synths. TBH I know they're not for everybody but they're my favourite band. I love them a lot. I definitely think they're widely respected as sort of... patron saints of the pop-punk scene (only Jewish LOL)PeteeBee wrote:Say anything is still a band? I thought they broke up in like 2007?

I need to check out the new one. I had my years off I guess. I remember loving the 2007 one... with the tree on the cover I think? Then not liking the next album. I think I just wrote them off after that and went through a big post rock phase that had no room for bands like say anything. I love the guys songwriting though. Saw them a couple times back in the day and they are definitely quite fond memories.casecandy wrote:Yeah! LOL okay I think you mean you like Say Anything Is A Real Boy, which came out in 2004, but was reissued in 2006, and is there best album by a long shot, and does sortof have a tree on the cover... it's actually Pinocchio's nose, i.e. "I'm a real boy!" in the album's title. This one?PeteeBee wrote:I need to check out the new one. I had my years off I guess. I remember loving the 2007 one... with the tree on the cover I think? Then not liking the next album. The one after that was In Defense of the Genre, that came out in 2007. This one (Jeff Smith artwork, not too shabby):

Ha yeah that one. With Pinocchio's wiener on the cover. I was really into it. Listened to the new one and I'm not really digging it but I like the idea. Get away from guitars a bit.

Yeah, there's a song on there called "Chia-Like, I Shall Grow," so it's definitely intended to be look like a wiener LOLPeteeBee wrote:Ha yeah that one. With Pinocchio's wiener on the cover. Re: Janice Cabs
Well, I went to Valparaiso, Indiana this morning and met Dan and his brother, and saw the shop. Left him the back panel from my head for color matching and four Celestion Heritage Greenbacks.
Will post a full review once I have the finished product.

The only thing that may pose a slight challenge is that the top is only 8" deep, so I may need to get creative about how to rest the head.

Re: Janice Cabs
Oh yeah, I saw Say Anything in person last night and was paying special attention to the cab. Bottom two speakers were mic'd. I was up front in the crowd and felt the bass response in my chest. At one point I said out loud, "That low end, though!" but I accidentally said it into the ear of a guy standing in front of me and he was really weirded out. Extremely loud. I felt inspired to get one...

Going to Valparaiso to pay my balance and pick up my cab. Will post pictures and maybe some video later today.

Re: Janice Cabs
Color matching is spot on. I think I'll christen it the "Red Scare".
