Do the LED mod and the Pathfinder opens up for pedals. Also do Tweedbassman's (Matthew of Penny Pedals) trem depth mod, too, since it gives it some real oomph with jus a resistor swap.
Been meaning to do both of these, along with one or two other things. Couldn't find the trem mod info. I havent had any issues with it and pedals though, unless the amp gain is high.
I thought it was fine at low gain before the LED mod, but it did make a noticeable difference. The depth mod is here:

I like my SF Champ + Pedals.
But I could totally use the Super Champ XD if I wanted to simplify and save some money.

I have a modded vox AC4 w/ the Mercury Magnetics mod kit + Celestion gold speaker + different pre and power tubes, it sounds really great. I bought it used from a guy who paid full price to have the mods done. I think total it cost him like $750 or $800 and he sold it to me for $400.

With no idea of desired sound, guitars, budget, needs, etc.
Fuck it, I'm going to suggest you get a pair of Hiwatt full stacks from 1972. No later, no earlier.
They must be pristine, with hang tags.
And you can't ever play them.
They will suit your needs as expressed exquisitely!

I stuck a Celestion G10 Gold into a Vox AC4C1-Bl and it sounds killer!

Or 6505+ 112 combo
Suitcase nukes!
If small in stature and price is desire, the Fender Super Champ X2 seems good from the demos I've watched. Also like the gain from the VHT Special 6 Ultra.

My first amp which I still use in my bedroom is a fender SS champ, the dual gain one. One of the opamps failed so I replaced both with tlo72 or something like that and also put in a cheaper weber speaker, sounds pretty damn good.

I've had good luck with an Ampeg GVT5 and a VHT Special 6. Both take pedals pretty well and didn't cost me more than $150.
Special low-frequency version.

I was thinking something similar. I'd buy a XOV amp just to have.
