Mr Black Shepard's End [Infinite Flanger]

Post by HorseyBoy »

Yo Chankgeez (and other flange boys) - did you see this?

Image

http://www.mrblackpedals.com/products/shepards-end

Described as "the world's first Barber Pole Through-Zero Flanger"… and sounds kinda rad. There's a demo and a couple of clips on the page.
Available for pre-order, $139.95 with the PREORDER code at checkout. Jack makes really good stuff and this could be well worth a try.

real tempted by the pre-order price but $55 for shipping is a
i really like the idea and the clips sounded neat but it would need more knobs to tip me over the edge.

^ Yep, shipping prices to Oz always suck. But for our American friends…
And I'm intrigued by the description. Love to know what the flanger experts think.

Damnit, suddenly between this, the Alexander F13 and the Flangerine, ALL I WANT IS FLANGERS! And that's not even taking the unreleased Chasebliss flanger into account. Poop.

I'm in Canada (not so far away)... and still Mr. Black shipping price doesnt make sense. :idk:
This is probably a digital flanger anyway. :idk:

Not that digital is bad... I like digital delay.
But digital flanger sound kind of cold (from my experience).

A fourth knob to adjust the delay time would have been great.

I just got the SubDecay Starlight Flanger mkII. And I'm really happy!!!

Doesn't sound all that different from any other flanger, at least not from what I heard in that demo. But then again, I don't know too much about flangers.

Yeah, I saw this… and skully pointed it out to me yesterday too.

Not for me.

I think TZ and barber pole flange are interesting, but I don't ever use stuff like that. I also tend to like analog. So, the Alexander and Mr. Black are probably not even under consideration. (Besides, I've still got a TC Electronic Vortex if I ever need the TZF. )

The new SubDecay, the new Foxrox and the new Chase Bliss on the other hand… :snax: … probably…

mmmm i think i'm gonna hold out for the Foxrox or the Chasebliss..
i've nearly pulled the trigger on the MF Flange a couple of times now too but the demos are scarce and kinda unconvincing. i like the feature set but it seems to always sound really vocal and throbby.
i bet the new subdecay one is awesome too but i never really considered that cos i'd probably never use anything other than a sine wave LFO. i did really like their phaser though..

Didn't know about the new Foxrox, and I had totally forgotten about the revised Subdecay.

Crap.

SO MUCH FLANGER TO FLANGE!!!!!!!

I do really dig the sounds of the Alexander, though, and am intrigued by this new Mr Black.

Sigh.

2015 year of the flange

If they made a Tunnelworm with a manual knob I would shower them with coins of the realm

It needs more knobs, IMO. Even if they don't do anything, I like having lots of knobs to play with.

well with this one a manual/delay time knob might be kinda tricky (isn't there two delay lines? and since its nothing like a normal sine wave the effect might not even be useful)
some kinda depth control and a blend would be nice though.
i think the Alexander one sounded good in demos but i'd want a manual knob on that one. it's the thing i seem to mess around with most on any given flanger. super important.

also why is nobody making more hi-band flangers? i would have thought maybe there's some territory left to explore there. i just bought another HF-2, missed that thing.

I'm uploading my demo of the Starlight Flanger mkII at the moment.
Should be in another thread in about 2 hours or so. :joy:
