Digitech Time Bender alternatives?

Dunno man, I sure would like to see em fight back with a new improved timebender. But I guess the sales/marketing peeps over at digitech know what thei'r doing

Still, there's plenty of other companies selling their big digital delays and proving the market isn't completely dead

is the delaylab really comparable to the timebender? I had one and couldn't find the magic like you guys speak of in the bender. besides the analog/multi tap/tape modes it came off as a bit 'sterile' sounding. I really want to try a timebender now

Only messed with a delaylab for a couple minutes. I wasn't blown away by it, but tbh I really didn't play long enough with it to make any sort of judgement. The overal sound and build quality sure seemed like a step up from my old DL-4, which I think even costs more. The size is a huge turn off for me personally though, I usually don't need more than one or two easily available presets anyway, so for that reason alone I'd go with a timebender.

Delaylab didn't inspire me from the demos, even at blowout prices.

The thing with the Timebender is that was during the point where Digitech didn't seem to grasp the web very well (a lot of companies didn't to be fair), and they were still promoting stuff based on endorsements from one Munky and Head.

One of the funniest things I've ever read re: Gear is that TGP thread introducing their new delay. Loads of people being all like "well why doesn't it do XYZ" and the digitech bro just went "we made that. it was the Timebender. No one bought it."

Yep. Ditto with the Space Station. Ditto with the Lexicon Vortex, which would probably come back as a Digitech product if at all. Anyway, as much as Digitech insiders may love the OG and want to bring it back, the money men will point out the Edsel-like sales of the original.

That was also the reason they refused to reissue the Bass Whammy for so long.

I think I saw on TGP (where digitechrep usually posts) that he/she basically said in response to people wanting more stuff out of the obscura that they've tried making a delay that could do almost everything and no one bought it. That was the Timebender. I dont remember a lot of the rest of the thread but i imagine it was very TGP-ish

Nope. 16 effects algos, you have 32 (16 a/b) user patches. Tap tempo for everything (master), two echo subdivisions, various settings.

It's on a rotary dial on both ends.

The "difficulty" is the depth and wrapping your head around what it does.

Manual is very in-depth but each of the 16 algos (with a/b variants) is its own unit to be honest.

I've seen a couple used ones sell for $130-140 in the last couple months, so they're out there. I got mine for $135 a couple years ago. It was used and a little beat up but works perfectly and I couldn't be happier. At the time I was trying to decide between it and the DD-20.

This site has some great info if you haven't seen it yet. Might help you make a decision of whether to try something else or wait it out for a good deal.

I would just keep watching ebay and shit. I ended buying a Timebender last month for sub $100.

It is absolutely incredible though.

Think the market has mostly spoken.

You can do it in some multis that offer two signal paths (put a delay/shifter in one path, mix to taste) but that's about it.

Yeah, I google'd for that answer myself. Only to find out that the ony other option is to run a pitch shifter through a delay pedal that has an fx loop...

Even then I don't think you'll be able to do all the pitch tricks the Timebender does? Might be able to do a few things Timebender doesn't too, but no perfect Venn overlap....
