I just checked those out a couple weeks ago. Thorogood construction wise is as good as redwing but the materials are slightly shittier. The shine and depth of the leather in those photos was definitely not on display in the boots i handled.... I would have no problem getting these for work. Rawr denim just did a comparison between these and some other brands in the low price ranges if you're interested.

You should get those Thorogoods. I have them in brown and black. I get compliments on them all the time. My brown ones are a little darker after I polished them.
