Which fuzz?

I'm looking to replace my silicon fuzz face with a clean blend fuzz. It's in the middle of my chain, and I already have a Fat Fuzz Factory and ss/bs mini (both are staying) on my board to give you an idea of which bases I've already covered.

These are the ones I'm currently considering:
ss/bs TAFM
Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler
Blakemore Effects Deus Ex Machina

I play an epiphone LP into an orange micro terror. I've listened to most of the online demos I can find, and I don't have any nearby stores which carry them. So I really appreciate any input, especially if you've found any type of warm milder gain settings.

TAFM for sure. You will definitely find the sound you're looking for with it. And it sounds so good with the Mini.

Not trying to be a whise ass or douche here, just genuinly wondering why some people's gear prioritiets are the exact opposite of mine. Getting decent tones from a nice guitar and decent tube amp through a couple boss pedals just seems way easier to me than using slightly different sounding pedals through a budget guitar and ss practice amp

Again, srry if that's not the answer you were hoping for. GAS is screwed up enough as it is, so why not just try to make your gear purchases make a little sense?

Micro Terrors are decent amps, though. And some of the Epiphone LP's (especially the Czech ones) are good guitars. More than good enough to gig with. Several guys here use Squiers, and I don't hear them complaining. Pedals are generally cheaper than amps and guitars, so I don't see any reason not to splurge if you've got the funds.

I'm from the US but currently living in Hong Kong. The humidity in my house is almost constantly around 90% without a dehumidifier running constantly. Hence the cheap, easily replaceable guitar I brought. I have 2 american strats, an american tele, a Peavey Wolfgang among others back in the US, but I would kick myself in the rear more if something happened to one of those.

As for the amp, I can fit it, a 1x8 cab, cables, guitar stand and a Shure SM57 in a backpack with everything weighing in at probably 10lbs or less. In a city that relies on public transportation, but makes using said public transportation with anything larger than a pillow a big ordeal, even a 1x12 is out of the question. Add to that that most apartments are around 500 sq ft. give or take, and every venue without a provided amp is going to be small.

Pedals are easy to travel with, most aren't really sensitive to weather changes, and provide me a stable tone which I like and other people complement, even when everything else isn't ideal. Personally, I've gone the other way as well - $1200 amp, $1200+ guitars with a GT8 in the effects loop for every effect other than dirt. Ran that setup for 8 years and decided to go to pedals, then ended up living in Hong Kong for work. I'd love to have high end guitars and amps here as well, but it just wouldn't work right now. So pedals are my poison of choice.

In that case, I'd personally go with your most muff-ish option: Deus Ex Machina. Should compliment the ff and mini nicely, I'm sure it'd a nice and useable addition to your arsenal.
Never messed with one myself, I'm just going by the demos that I checked. Seems like one of the (many) better options as far as boutique muffs go

i think blakemore has an account here too, actually, although he's not a regular poster unless he's updating us about the circuits to cure cancer auction that he organizes every year. so i don't know if he qualifies as an ILFer or not. but he's a decent dude worth supporting as well. i used to participate in a forum of which he was a regular.

i can tell you that mini -> modulation -> tafm w/gate sounds super rad. i had that setup on my board until i needed my tafm as a main synth fuzz.

Close to my thoughts, though I was gonna say straight up look bro, you can try all the fuzz you want, but your amp and guitar aren't gonna do any of them real justice.

ATL get some better pickups and electronics for your guitar and a decent tube amp that's better suited as a pedal platform, and I think your opinions on all your fuzzes will be much better informed. A good fuzz face circuit becomes a reactive part of the guitar amp circuit if you use it with the right pups/amp, and if you do it right they can cover some broad territory.

I live in Florida. If I let these things stop me from buying good guitars and amps I'd never have anything worth a fuck.

Have you considered running an LS-2 or something to run whichever fuzz you want clean blendable (or in parallel with another fuzz, etc)?

One caveat, the fuzz would have to be "buffer friendly" - IOW it shouldn't use the guitar's load as part of the voicing (like original fuzz faces for example)

though ou can put together a little RLC network to mimic the loading if you are married to a unit that needs it
