The business of ilovefuzz is builders building, selling & trading, and fooling around. Covering costs and supporting the community is probably all that matters to Tom, hence a different approach.

I love it here too, Talkbass has always been a little stuffy for my liking. Effects is actually very loosely moderated when compared to the rest of the site, at my request, and if I can't keep that under some kind of control it will be 'death from above' under some of the more heavy-handed moderators.

In this particular case, we have a group of generally harmless but immature folk that seek out and intentionally try to goad and harass people in another sub-forum. This includes general mockery and failure to treat others on the forum 'as people.' The entire thread in that section was made up of a small group poking and laughing at others, joking about how they were totally going to get banned, and how it would be totally worth it.

I'm sorry that some folks only have 'fun' at cost of others, but blatant behavior at that level is a thing that Talkbass (andany forum) should have zero tolerance for.

That said I think you are mistaking what 'even-handed' means. If the rules are strict, and you get punished... that can still be even-handed, ie everyone getting treated equally, it's just totalitarian

PS: Yes, I realize. I've been here longer then you, what's your point?

There are more builders here than Talkbass, as Talkbass isn't friendly to new and casual builders unless you pay them money.

That's not what that means, you must not internet much. Oh well.

Do you have a board? Post it! Let's go back to discussing all things music and stuff!

Whoa, I just got here today and it's already getting aggro in here.
What the f**k guys?

The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend.
To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo your own.

Listen, I get what you're saying, I do because I believe you and I have had this discussion before. I don't dislike you, but some of the other mods/admins are ridiculous.

Talkbass is fun sometimes, but it's become a sad place to be for the past year or so. All that happens is people troll the shit out of people and the mods step in periodically and that's it. There's barely any substance that is worth reading. It's not a community IMO and I've never felt a part of anything there.

I've actually considered not posting there ever again because I cannot stand how it's handled and how some of the member chose to treat each other.

Now I do get why they do it the way they do. It's a business and that totally makes sense. It's also the internet though and people are going to be who they want to be.

I'm the same in person and online, but a lot of people aren't. Everything I say, you'd better be damn sure I say to people in person. Good or bad.

The beauty of ILF is that we don't have constant restrictions of feeling like someone is looking over our shoulders. If we make a mistake and are a dick head, most of us say we're sorry and get forgiven. Trust me, I've done it many times here. I regret that, but it's the way I am.

My point is. TB is TB, ILF is ILF. I'm GLAD ILF is not TB and never will be. If it ever did turn into something that even resembled TB, I'd leave for good.

PS- you may have been here longer than me, but you have not contributed to the community like I have, so your point is null.

I would also like to point out, I know what you're talking about with the mocking others and being dicks. I know who you're talking about too and it pisses me the fuck off like no other.

You and I are square as far as I'm concerned dude. No hard feelings. Now let's all kiss and make out. Err. up.

I certainly have no beef with you, I like your pedal exploration and your work. I agree with almost all of your points, and only take exception with the fact that you seem to think the fact I lurk more than I post somehow invalidates my knowledge.

Currently 'noise/doom' band board.
I play tenor guitar into bass/guitar amp with a drummer with this. We have 5 songs now, and just added a vocalist :)
