Yeah, for me it's less about the pure sound, which resembles a tiny mandolin orchestra trem picking with rubber plectrums (which I like in it's Jules Verne/HG Wells steamfi kind've appeal), but what I imagine to be the tactile feedback wins the day for me--that and the relative lack of fiddliness (reverse pun alert) once installed, presumably. Ain't a pedal out there that will replicate that. Anyone know if you can select which strings are bowed/mute certain strings? That'd be rad, though not necessary to sell me...obvi.
As for deciding--I'm going guitar on the chance it will also work with Bari or VI if I want to go that way....
I'll be in LA this weekend... oh shit, NAMM?

For me, I think, it is more about the keyboard-like action and being able to hold a note and then not for some choppy, not guitar sounding parts. Like quick, not attack sustaining and stuff (probably sound like an idiot). I think it will help me transition between the two styles I am trying to blend because I am a terrible player that can't do anything past a power chord reliably.
Mostly I jsut think it is kinda cool and would sound cool with pedals..
Yea, dandolin, it is just 6 levers that engage each string invidually with wheels. So any combination or single string can be engaged at one time. Here is a vid of the old one from the 1970s. I think they have improved the wheels and stuff quite a bit.

Yeah, I'm all about changing the attack envelope, especially in the relatively short spans necessary to sound like another instrument rather than a fader....

An actual good video from a NAMM, strange! haha...It really sounds more bowed than the older model. The whells spin at 5000rpm.
That bass is weird, but kinda cool. Is it scalloped? Stereo outs?

I know, it does kinda sound better on bass. I'll stick with the guitar one. I think it would sound great on a bass vi though.

Well….I am now on the wait list for the bass model.
I hope it helps me get rid of my Hurdy Gurdy lust.
