Worst band of the year 2015

I will say that I have an extraordinarily low tolerance for most "jam bands", but I think that's a disingenuous notion since most of the bands that I like jam.

I saw Mumford in D.o.S.'s home, er, port of Portland, ME, and it was honestly one of the best concerts of my life. It's not my fault that they suck so bad now. I don't know what to tell you. Their new album is beyond offensive, worst album I've ever heard. I won't go on about it. I hoping to repress it soon.

D.o.S., every time I say I like a band, you trash it, and every time I say I hate a band, you ask me, "What's wrong with [band]?"

Last one was, "What's wrong with Taylor Swift?"

I do like The Dead. A lot. Anthem of the Sun, Live Dead, Workingman's Dead, American Beauty, Europe '72, all close to being perfect IMHO. And Aoxomoxoa is pretty solid, too. Basically you can't go wrong with the Warner Bros. years, I have all those on CD

Yeah. To be honest, I love a lot of that stuff. I don't care for Phish because they went off the jam deep-end and forgot to write songs after they wrote "You Enjoy Myself." They were like, "That's good, one song. I think we can just jam now." So that's not good. moe., Umphee's McGee, Widespread Panic, all follow this deplorable model of songcraft. Prison rape isn't the worst metaphor.

But Bela Fleck & the Flecktones are incredible, especially Live At The Quick, Dave Matthews Band is also quite good live and Under The Table And Dreaming and Crash are very good studio efforts, Xavier Rudd can play guitar, drums, and didge at the same time, so he's awesome, uh, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, basically a lot of these guys making a lot of music of varying quality and when they hit the mark, they hit the mark hard, even if they only hit once every decade or so.

But the bros and hippies that like all of the above are beyond insufferable. Why do bros even like DMB? I'll never understand it.

Where I'm from "jam band" means something totally different, bands like Jimmy Swift Band, Grand Theft Bus, All Of Green, The Fussy Part, stuff like that, stuff you might have heard of being a Mainer? But probably not further that New England.

I don't think I've heard of any of those bands.

I will say, in the least surprising twist ever, that we diverge here. I would much rather listen to Umphree's McGee or The Disco Biscuits than Dave Matthews (who I think is hot garbage) or Bela Fleck.

Well I'm somewhat biased as my connection to them got me around the world and introduced to some of my favorite musicians. Maybe joe and the rest turned out to be dickheads but aaron was a great dude and a friend of mine. Also that cd fucking wailed.

You're not alone in thinking Mr. Matthews's music is garbage, hot or otherwise, and he's definitely not for everybody. And while I think most people actually like Mr. Fleck (or at least his stalwart companion, Mr. Wooten), I also get that they're not errybody's cup of tea.

Personally, I think DMB is at his strongest with Tim Reynolds in the band. Whatever you think about his music, I assure you that Mr. Reynolds's guitar playing is on point.

Ive never been sure if he was actually the dick in that case. He has always had a temper but honestly i think he just got tired of joe. I know they were talking a lot of shit when NIN ceased being a band in 200whatever and he lost pretty much everything he made in NIN in that lawsuit. After that he started that jubilee album and sent me a 7" or something and i told him i didn't really like it and haven't heard from him since.
