- That pricetag though
- Heard some good demos of it, very post-rock-y
- That's a handsome pedal
- TBH I have a twinge of GAS here
BELLWETHER ANALOG DELAY
You’ve seen it. You’ve heard it. You’ve heard about it. Now, it’s time to play it.
Pre order today, Tuesday, June 30th
We are elated to announce the release of the Bellwether Analog Delay! Bellwethers ship from the Walrus shop on Tuesday, July 14th. Reserving one today puts you in line to get one of the first of these intricately diverse and rich audio landscape crafters. The Bellwether is a bucket brigade delay pedal with tap tempo. Offering analog circuity and up to 1000ms of lush delays, the Bellwether ushers in a rich soundscape of long and short trails. The Analog Chorus Engine allows you to manipulate the depth and rate of the chorus effect applied to your trails; creating a deep soundscape of ambient modulation. It can achieve the warm saturated sounds found in delays like the Maxon AD999 and the coveted Boss DM-2. Inversely, the repeats can also be brightened up with the tone control for more pronounced rhythmic delays.
Pre Order - 6/30/2015
Shipping - 7/14/2015
Price - $349

I feel this
Like... they wanna be EQD or Old Blood Noise, based on their aesthetic, which is overwhelmingly their best thing going for them
But they're not innovating like those companies are
You guys are boring, except this time you cost too much.
I kid, I kid. But I'm gassing for this. I always like having a weird delay and a more utilitarian delay with me. And while the Empress Tape Delay has served me well, its lack of modulation and some of its quirks had me looking for an alternative. I guess that's why I'm excited. Tap tempo with subdivisions is one of my favorite features, specially with the style of music I play. Also the effects loop, which would allow me to do weird shit like sticking a ring mod or a compressor in there. I might ask one of our builders to make me a multi pedal to deal with that...

I've never really gotten into their stuff, although I've wanted to—the sounds seem good on the surface, and they're certainly pretty damn good lookin'.
That said, I've had the same response as a lot of other people seem to have had on here... ultimately they've all underwhelmed me. The worst culprit was the Janus—I initially was like "FUCK THAT'S COOL" after watching the demos, but found it to be boring as all hell when I actually played one in a local shop.
They seem to be great for dudes who like to take pretty pics of their pedalboards and Instagram em, which floats plenty people's boats.
Also, full disclosure—I'm a bit of a delay simpleton. I tend to gravitate towards classic or weird sounding analog delays and haven't had much of a need for subdivisions, etc.. That's just me though, certainly plenty of people out there who've been GASing about the Bellwether for a while.

Yeah I'd love to try one. Seems 10x more useful than the obne delay. Tap tempo, expression, effects loop, and control over the modulation are all feature that appeal to me and I know I will use a lot.

Yeah. Meh. It'll have that middle-of-the-road-acceptable-normal-in-a-good-way-so-as-not-to-offend-church-musics-and-classic-tone-fiends kinda sound to it I guess.
Tap and divisions aint for me. FX loops are. But I bought Maude for that.
ALL THAT SAID....
I'm holding out for a Chase Bliss offering which I imagine may have something of a similair feature set. Although weirder and rampable.

I enjoy analog delays. I would like to enjoy this analog delay. 1000ms bbd delays are interesting.
But for $350 I'm all but convinced I'd prefer enjoying another vintage DMM.
