I'm with daseb, not really even sure why I clicked on this thread besides abject boredom and cannot say I have heard (of) 99% of the bands mentioned.

But when you attach a label like "prog emo" to something, you have basically guaranteed that I won't.

You kids have fun.

Progemo (pronounced "pro-zhe-mo"). It's all the rage in Antwerp.

It's actually "pro GMO".

We're funded by Monsanto.

The extra (e) was a side effect.

How about omegorp, the bizarro version of prog emo? Bands in this genre play slow, simple songs sung in complete monotone. Song topics usually include linen, luggage, and the color beige.

This is a common opinion that I get because they literally don't move while they play but IMHO? I've seen bands who fucking sucked because they were all over the place. Would rather see a "boring" tight band than an "exciting" band that slops their way through half their set.

Emo music in general is fucking boring. But most music bores me for that matter. The weirder it gets the less appealing it is to me. The shorter and more to the point, the more interesting it is for me.

But... weird and long can be so good! Here, Kevin Shields can explain it better than I can. (When he starts talking about the infinite horizon.)
