Tooth and nail is not a punk label.casecandy wrote:People who dismiss Christian bands just because they're Christian are so annoying, and thankfully, I think that that's on the wain. I say that because in recent years there have been some Xtian bands that got a lot of popularity and acclaim with secular listeners. But I still encounter some of these shitheads in the scene that will get pissy about the fact that Dustin Kensrue is a worship leader. I'm like, uh, half the people you buy pedals from are worship leaders or associated so suck it. Anyway I definitely think Starflyer were dismissed a lot back in the day, people thought "Xtian punk" and wouldn't even listenrainlet wrote:That sounds like it would be great. So much good shit got lumped under this P+W type of thing simply because they were signed on Tooth and Nail. Starflyer 59, Roadside Monument, Frodus, all great shit that seem perpetually ignored just because of that association.sonidero wrote:That's the one... I saw them live once on a lil stage on Baylor Campus cause they were supposed to be pw at the time cause of their label... It was incredible, they played most of Silver and Gold to about 13 people...
Tooth & Nail are one of the great American punk labels IMO
Frodus are great. I looked into them after Thrice covered "The Earth Isn't Humming" and was pretty thoroughly impressed

Re: The Sound of Failure
Tooth and Nail was like its own completely separate side hugging scene most of the time. (Also Frodus' best record was on Lovitt)
Case candy I get that you like music for its own sake and that's cool, but political context was a MASSIVE part of so much of this music you're looking back on. Some of us have pretty goddamn valid reasons for disliking on stuff like that whole cornerstone fest 'punk' scene. The arrogance in assuming we don't like creemo acoustic dorks or whatever because we're just haters is pretty annoying.
This has very little to do with Failure.

Do you think digital modelling rack solutions will eventually replace effects pedals completely

An acquaintance of mine at the local hardware store keeps suggesting that I should just get rid of all my pedals because it's only a matter of time before the modelers take over.casecandy wrote: Do you think digital modelling rack solutions will eventually replace effects pedals completely
Then again, there seem to be enough "pure tone" and "all analog" guys out there to keep digital modelers from being as significant as they might be.
Never underestimate the power of peer pressure and the potential to be judged as a "pleb" for using anything less than a Klon and original DM-2.
