Favorite $100-$150 dirt boxes

Post by neonblack »

I may or may not have some money burning a hole in my PayPal account right now and I don't think we've had one of these threads in a while.

Whats everyone's favorite in production $100-$150 dirt box right now? OD, fuzz, distortion, oscillating, octaves, gated, WHATEVER. My only dirt right now is my Mini, which has a hi gain mod, so its pretty versatile. That leaves me with a pretty wide range of stuff I could buy.

I'm already getting a Driving Notion, and we all know and love it.

Sonic Shroom is just over $150, right? It's amazing. And if the Wolf Computer gets back in production, or if you find one used (or Fox Calculator?), that is also really cool.

Either way. If its sub $150 used, lay it on me.

Although I think I'm getting a Supercollider, I still wanna hear opinions.

Anyone tried an EQD terminal? Not sure how I feel from the demos, but it seems like a pretty interesting fuzz.

Wounded Paw Attack Goat should be in that range used, one of my current faves, sounds awesome at low and high gain
Fairfield Barbershop is in that range used, it is just always awesome for low gain tonez
All Arc Effects pedals are awesome, there is a Big Green Pi in the BST right now for $140 that I wish I could jump on
Malekko Diabolik used should easily fit in there, I'm itching to try one of those
If you stretch your budget by about $5, you should be able to grab brand new a Fredric Effects Scrambled Brainz. I'm GASing fiercely over these at the moment.
Snufkino has those pedals in the BST - FY2, FuzzFace, Orpheum - that look cool and maybe even unique, decent prices too

I know there are way more, but those are some of the ones that have my attention lately.

I've got a Mr. Black Thunderclaw that I just got in a trade that would fall in your price range. Kind of Rattish, TONS of volume on tap. Hit me up if you might want it.

Scrambled Brainz ssounded GNARLY on that Bass demo.

I love octave fuzzies. Fuzzmaster General is on my list too, but I dunno if I'd rather have that or another Buzzz. Especially with those new hand stamped finishes.

A bit out of that $150 range though.

If you have $$$ burning a hole in your PayPal, why not take a chance to try something new? The S.Brainz sounds like its own cool thing, not quite SuperFuzzy but with a nasty octave thing going on...worst case scenario is you don't like it and flip it to me. ;)

I think I'm gonna try the Earthbound Supercollider. I've been looking for a thick fuzz for a while. I thought I didn't like Muffs but I tried one recently and it sounded great, especially being pushed by my Mini.

I've been thinking of getting an Unpleasant Surprise lately too. I feel like it would pair extremely well with the Driving Notion for a killer noise rock dirt section :animal:

Thick and muffy? Then totally grab that Big Green Pi in the BST.

Bass demo section starts at about 7 minutes.
