I had purchased a custom pedal at the same time as you guys and it was a nightmare (that wait time... and that enclosure).

But not so long ago, I ordered a custom Fuzz Mutant... Got it real fast and it look exactly like what I wanted.

I'm just bummed that he took the tourbox back RIGHT before it was supposed to come to me

Well I've played the Fuzz Mutant and I like it a lot. Lots of textures.
It can be set to be clean enough to play chords but can also be set in
very textured and full-on fuzz.

Disclosure:
The quote about the Fuzz Mutant on the Basic Audio website is something
I wrote about it after hearing clips that other people made with it. I'm not
affiliated with Basic Audio in any way other than having purchased one fuzz
and participated in two Basic Audio tourboxes.

I'm not a big fan of Big Muff type circuits and I haven't played the Zippy.

I haven't ordered anything custom from Basic Audio, so I can't speak about
that. But I'm sorry to hear that others have had troubles in that situation.

Having participated in two Basic Audio tourboxes and owning a Gnarly fuzz
I've only had good experiences with Basic Audio. Sorry to hear that isn't
the case with others here.

Somebody mentioned the BA Kay fuzz. I used that for this clip:

Fuzz Mutant (and Boss RE-20) on this long meandering clip:

Gnarly fuzz and a bit of Dunlop Eric Johnson Fuzz Face on this even longer clip:

The Fuzz Mutant is addictive... I cannot stop playing it.

The one in the video was from a tourbox (thanks to Chank).

Yeah. When I ordered the Gnarly (international order coming to Ontario)
it arrived very quickly. But it was an order of an "in stock" item.
I guess it was different for those here with custom orders.

jia. very cool if he righted the ship and is on top of his stuff. he always did super clean builds with interesting boxes. why i approached him about a custom jank.

i just had such a bad experience i don't ever want any of his loots.

It's sad to hear the reports of strong negative impressions about John. In my experience he has never been anything less than great--responsive, good communications, perceptive/ insightful, capable. And an all around good guy.

At the same time, I have known the frustrations of time lags, lack of communication, misunderstanding, to say nothing of people who have outright cheated me; so I sympathize with that for sure, with no questions asked.

But never with John, not for me.

When I get through my downsizing and glitchgas, I fully intend to seek out a B. A. custom and I want it mutant.
