While I do believe the new Ken Mode is the best thing to have been released in the last weeks/months, I have to admit I do like the new Refused and Faith No More. The new Failure though... meh.

The only thing that can top the new Ken Mode is a new Whores release

Finally found some time to hear it in its entirety.

I think there's a couple of awesome riffs, sometimes some nice bass grind as well. However I think the overall production is pretty horrible, songwriting is sub-par and it doesn't sound like a Refused record at all.
If it got released under a different name, the reception might be much better, there are some repulsive 80's arena rock moments that spoil it a bit, but it'S the "Refused" sticker that just makes it super fucking icky in the end.

Get the album Seven Swans, or the new one Carrie and Lowell (good write-up here that I generally agree with). Go for a walk somewhere beautiful with a pair of headphones you like. See how much you can absorb. It is definitely music for headphones. He mixed it in headphones and it's music for listening to alone... without distractions... so you can get to know it like a friend.

If you don't like it then, okay.

This is actually the most disgusting argument for listening to shitty music ever.

Listening to music without distraction is like rule #1, it's not something you should preach in defense of shit that sucks.

I seem to like you as a person... as much as I can know what you're like "as a person," over the internet.

But I cannot imagine a person more polarly opposite in terms of music... not only taste, but how you experience it, and how you relate to it, everything.

I walked out onto the ice flow and watched the gulls taking off and landing.

It was super slow, super quiet. Super doomy atmosphere.

So anyway, out there, totally alone with the ice flow and the Bay, I had no distractions at all.

I was able to appreciate every nuance of what Bell Witch were trying to do.

Anyway, no music lends itself to headphoning like Sufjan Stevens' music.

There is an artfulness and a craft to what he does, both in terms of technical musicianship and in conceptual execution, that most artists cannot touch.

But it is cool that you don't like him though because I don't like a lot of the shit that you like.

I fear for your reading comprehension. The rule of thumb when it comes to listening to music it to listen to it without distraction. That doesn't mean that, if you do that, you won't listen to shitty music, and that it won't be any less shitty because you're not dividing your attention.

Also, I think you've got a super-weird validation complex that probably isn't healthy in general, but particularly when it comes to something like taste.


that said, as far as I can tell, you don't seem to make music, so you're coming at it from a place of exclusively fandom (rather than the fandom, which is a given, and the participation in creation, which is not), which would explain why you take super minute shit super seriously and seem to have this Aristotelian notion of the perfect order of music that must be loved/canonized. I don't think that's a particularly practical or useful mindset for anyone who has set out to create something new that can stand on its own merit, though.

Rest assured, we're all on here because we think music is 110% vital and important. It's ok to make fun of that, though.

I like the picture... but here is the thing, your opinion is only a opinion just like anyone else, it does not make you right or wrong, it does not means you have good or bad taste in music, shit you like is shit you like and no amount of creating strange imaginary olympic sports validate or disvalidate your point because it is too subjective, also when you say something like ^ [the middle part of whatever you typed] all it will do is turn people off to listening to aforementioned almost Richard Wright sounding person.. but in a Jerry Garcia sort of way.
