Chankgeez, I have a story that Yank figures in, but it's long and it makes me look old as the hills.

I just remembered something. The original Gretsch White Falcons were rejected finish other guitars that they painted white, gave gold hardware and sold them as an upgrade. Great way to use B-Stock?

Re: Tell me something I don't know
as far as gear.......... I'll get back to you. Because I don't know much
I think phaser, chorus, vibe and tremolo were all attempts at making/early emulation of rotary Leslie sounds without having to haul a Rotary cab?
uh.... Norlin Era "pancake" Les Pauls are actually great and a lot of the "Norlin Era sucks" comes from people not wanting the secret to get out?
Much of the first Black Sabbath album is a Strat?
Its easier to get Heavy Brootal toanz with Less distortion and More volume?
uh.....
Locking Tuners are the best upgrade a person can do- not for tuning stability, but for whipping a set of strings on in no time.
Dunlop strings come with a sticker (at least last 3 I've opened).
Behringer now owns TC Electronic?
the King Maker fuzz by Source audio is the only (so far as I've found) stereo in/out fuzz on the market.
none of the above might be true..
well anyway about hotdogs. I try to only eat Hebrew National because kosher is smart and I don't want to think about eating organs and filler and junk.
and I like my hot dog almost every which way. But currently, if someone were to prepare a (kosher) hot dog and present it to me, I'd want it with chili and coleslaw on it. Because I've been corrupted by my time in the Carolinas.

Also Sonoran Dawgs Rulezzz...
And did you know that phase, trem and vibe were not just trying to capture a Leslie but were ways for guitboxers to stand out from the rest of the band...

Re: Tell me something I don't know
That's probably the same Strat that Iommi played as a member of Jethro Tull. You can see him in Tull's performance in the Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus performance movie thing. I can't imagine he played on any albums or this wouldn't be rock nerd trivia.The_Active_Conundrum wrote:Much of the first Black Sabbath album is a Strat?
Funny thing, there was a joint Hetfield-Iommi interview in one of the metal head guitar mags in the 90s and Hetfield bashed on Jethro Tull and another flower-power-ish band of the era to the effect they were to weak and light. Neither Iommi or the interviewer pointed out the connection.

While we're on the prog meets doom trivia: Rick Wakeman plays on Sabbra Cadabra because Yes was recording next door, and he was bored. He refused to be paid in anything except beer, because Wakeman is a god among men.

That's Dinah Shore skating? I didn't know she could do that.
I don't even know where to start with that video.
"Fight and kill the evil man! Rid his evil from our land!"
Isn't that just what Jello was always saying?
Maybe Rick and Jello could team up in Portland for "Rednecks on Ice?"

He's a really nice guy and a blast to have a conversation with. I still gotta make it out to his DJ sets he does all the time.

Affirmative on the Jello Mojo.
I'd love to hang out with Jello. Where does he DJ?

Re: Tell me something I don't know
All over the place. He did a set in Blackpool when I was there. Did two free ones in LA recently. Does them in the bay all the time. East Coast I think he gets out to less often, but I'm sure he will get out there eventually. He played Magma, some glam, The Stalin, Third World War and stuff when I saw him. Saw him at Coachella too. He's been kickin' it with the Al dude from ministry a lot, just did some recording with Dave Grohl, stooges guitar guy, and has been seen at Ryan Adams shows. He's always around.Dandolin wrote:Affirmative on the Jello Mojo.

His spoken word i s fun too. I stood next to him at a slim Cessna show and we talked about Bakersfield and this dude that used to release albums weekly that wore a Dr. Suess hat (they were like metal albums that he had on consignment at my practice space inside a record store...jello picked one up...we told the dude and he called alternative tentacles everyday looking for a contract. Jello told me to tell him to stop calling). It was a blast talking to him. I think I did briefly at another slim Cessna show too.
Fun side note: Wesley Willis headbutted my friend. Rock on Chicago.
