Ughhhhh, I got 10 minutes into that, what a fucking horror show. Whooping and screeching with that painful nasal airbag coughing sound of hers about Notch's "obliviousness"gordian knot wrote:I don't think anyone who is aware of her from forums would have thought she'd do anything different. ANYWAY, real reason I came to post,
Oh snap someone's butthurt... and lurking
It's pretty amusing that she criticizes it as a "circle jerk" when such a huge amount of her current online activity consists of Devi & her Australian friend often criticizing ("hating on") others
an example I presume you've all seen

Oh, there was an example of her active sculpting in the original :
I wish I had screencapped it, but in the original of that video someone made the suggestion that every time the goes out to eat she paypal a kickstarter backer $5. That comment got selectively deleted while others remained. It was a dangerous one to her - it wasn't "pro" so she couldn't play the hero, it wasn't "hateful" so she couldn't play the victim.
Notch engages with and ultimately brushes off some psycho rambling hate tweets, but nooo, he's "oblivious".

I don't know if it's worth arguing with a mob, but Devi has never been anything other than nice to me. I don't know her very well or anything, but the few times I have talked to her she has always been pleasant.
And, if you don't like a person, or don't get along with them, you have the option of just not making them part of your day. So much negativity can't be good for anyone. Being mad at someone, or actively disliking someone, or whatever, is a shitty feeling to have, and I think it does worse to the person feeling it than it does to the person it's directed at.
Just my two cents.

Basically, whatever the person asks. At my college it has become the norm to introduce yourself on the first day of class and list your pronouns "hi i'm garrett, i use he/him/his". Some people use they/them, which seems awkward at first but you get used to it when you hear it a lot.

Gender identity is complex, but it shouldn't be too complex to call someone by the pronouns they identify with.cobascis wrote:Basically, whatever the person asks. Some people get very frustrated about pronouns but if you try and see it from their perspective, imagine the frustration you'd go through if your personal identity was completely at odds with the identity that society was putting on you. I think a lot of cis (i.e. not trans) people get upset when trans people get frustrated or angry about identification, but if you step back, I think you'll see, making it about you is not really improving the situation.
Listen to people, right? Just in general, not just re: gender.
Except Devi. I don't listen to her anymore. And I tried reaaaaaaally fucking hard to see the good in her. But she really is as crazy as people on here made her out to be. I agree with many people on here who've said something to the effect of, "I feel bad for her." It's really sad that her talent has been mitigated by her mental health issues and I hope someday she gets the help she deserves and clearly needs.
For all of which do NOT take, I will EVER give her money... EVER again

Count yourself lucky and do yourself a favor and keep her at arms length. In all honesty if she came back and didn't start stirring the pot immediately she wouldn't have gotten herself banned from this forum or banned from FB (albeit temporarily). Her past history speaks for itself and if you do some due diligence you will see most of what's posted here to be justified. I don't perceive this thread as an angry mob in the least. Just an ongoing discussion regarding the hi-jinx of an individual with a questionable code of business ethics and an unwavering desire to be the center of attention who constantly posts on social media for a reaction and when she gets it plays the victim card.

Re: Effector 13 Is Back
I didn't care back in the time and didn't understand. But I remember some bash between devi and other builders over on HCFX when I started lurking there. I am always see the good or try to see... But the history seems to speaks for itself.
Sometimes, I wished there where a bigger gap between people. Between customers and builders for example. I mean the internet is a great door into the world and to get in touch with people all around the world. But it happens always in a strange way (for me crazy because I am not a native). The way how we talk to or about people on the web. People we never met in the real life... This is sometimes a problem and the internet is not only a place to make friends.
Forums and the different community's behind is amother ore extremely setting of this.

P.s.: for example, I am an it supporter who works at direct front with/for end user. Sure its nice to become "friends" but I try to keep them on the customer level. Because it went not so emotional if something is not right on the business side and easier to sort out without bad feelings in the stomach.

so, again, totes not trying to be a dick. i'm abouts to be 40 and most of my friends are around the same age, so college/huge groups of new people to meet constantly was a bit ago for me.cobascis wrote:behndy wrote:gender nameage IS a Sticky, Naughty, Honey Playing Wicket. i can't imagine how hard it must be to spend your life feeling like you have the wrong shaped meat shell encasing your soft gooey.... youness. is it that prevalent an issue? i always got the feel that some of the gender issue stuff all over tumblr is somewhat akin to how every grrL i knew in high school was bisexual to be edgy, when closer to 5% had ever or ever planned to be with another layday. is there a huge chunk of our population that feels like they are not the traditional definition of male or female?
what is they used for?
annnnnd i am NOT confusing prevalent with important. of COURSE it's an important issue. the amount of violence, self inflected and from outside sources, people still are exposed to over gender, race, sexual prefence, it's disgusting and horrible. understanding and having open discussions, GOOD.

We'll know for sure in a few years once the stats on marriages/divorces etc start coming in along with retirement and other benefits that can be compared to traditional actuarial numbers.behndy wrote:[

I suspect it's been overstated for a long, long, long time.
And this won't be good when it comes to pass - when you know how much of a percentage a group commands, you can weigh the costs of disenfranchising them at the voting booth.
Couple that with the fatigue that's going to set in about all this stuff...not sure where it'll end up long term.
I have my own theories but won't go into them here because it's neither the time nor the place, and it'll get shrill so fast my head will spin.
ILF's demographic shifts young and left-wing even by musician standards so what we see here is even less representative of the broader community.
