Oscillating fuzz with feedback loop. Now, that is a pretty cool idea. Also, photosensitive eye that controls the "intensity" or whatever of the loop. Yeah. Good for noisemaking, and for mangling your other effects into inrecognizable messes of incoherent sound. The fuzz itself is pretty standard fare for this type of pedal. It screams, arpeggiates, creates subs etc. And it has a gate that more or less removes noise inbetween notes. The feedback loop is where it's at though. Got some really cool results by messing with it. Yeah.

Wow, the TBD sounds way different than it used to. It actually sounds mildy useful now. My old one (i dunno, got it in 2004 or something) just sounded like sub farts and the guitar (no matter how hot) barely cut through for anything. That one has more bite and less mud. Good demo as usual.

Thanks man. It gets the way you describe if you roll back the fuzz knob a bit, so it might be that they have given it more juice or something?

Re: Oscillating fuzz demos - (DE Truly Beautiful Disaster)
Yeah, maybe. I dunno, it was way back in the E13 early days before all the different stuff came out. I got it at the same time as the Tri-Fuzz (kinda...had to wait forever and they got shipped separately or something). Who knows really but I found it pretty useless and it just sat for like 10 years until I sold all my old stuff. It just didn't cut through anything. Dwarfcraft probably just found the best version of it and made it standard. haha.Eivind August wrote:Thanks man. Yeah, the Dwarfcraft guys know their shit. Wouldn't be surprised if Aen and his merry band of oscillateurs modified and improved the existing circuit.

I had one and flipped it. Wasn't a fan of the fuzz sound and hated the backwards knobs.

Oscillation is great.....
The fact that Stephen appears from nowhere, is sentenced to death in an emotional public trial without anyone interfering at all and is then altogether forgotten as if nothing happened, is already suspicious.

I agree.stephen sawall wrote:Oscillation is great.....
Also, I wouldn't call the TBD shit (especially since I'm selling it), but yeah, it's not that special. It was suggested to me in an earlier oscillating thread as something different from most oscillating fuzzes, which I don't really think it is. The feedback loop is cool, but that's also the only thing that sets it apart from the other pedals I've encountered on this journey, and it's not like you can't just buy a feedback looper separately. I've tried a couple of DE fuzzes, and they've all left me wanting. I think they're cool for punk rock or just crazy noise, though. Just not for my crystal lattice prog tonal warmth analog toanz.

I guess. It just didn't sound good to me, despite great playing. It was sort of lifeless, if that makes any sense. Stuff like the Bit and Test Pattern on the other hand...oh yeah, them be some tasty Devi's.

Re: Oscillating fuzz demos - (DE Truly Beautiful Disaster)
When it first came out, it sounded way different than other oscillating fuzzes, it just wasn't that useful. I think it has become more useful partially at the expense of uniqueness. It wouldn't really work in the punk world to me versus stuff like the dba fuzzgun or even the 88 (for osc fuzzes) because of its lack of bite (at least with my old one). It's ok in a noise setting but there are better options. The feedback loop is fun though, but I have yet to find a useful photo eye haha (and it is just a feedback loop). The trifuzz was something different, but again I jsut didn't really find a use for it. When it came out though, there just wasn't a ton of osc fuzz options that I can remember (trifuzz, tbd, fuzz factory, 86, 87, and maybe a dba but they were way new). It has importance in the scheme of things.Eivind August wrote:I agree.stephen sawall wrote:Oscillation is great.....

Great Demo. I still hate the Disaster Fuzz circuit though.
Prior to DE's meltdown to crazytown, we planned on putting a different fuzz circuit in there. Maybe we will do something similar under the DC flag next year.

Haha, thanks. Glad to hear that you agree. Or maybe not glad, but it's sort of reassuring. Yeah. Hey, what about mixing it up with the She Fuzz? Now that's a fuzz circuit that sounds great, and since you're discontinuing it...aens_wife wrote:Great Demo. I still hate the Disaster Fuzz circuit though.

I think Galvar is right in that it's important as part of the oscillation family tree, though. Sort of like how Garfunkel was important for the evolution of Paul Simon.
