The brokest. My only amp right now is a THR10. Also trying to convince myself that my pedals situation is fine because I want things but I don't want to sell things and I'm unemployed. Had to spend $75 on a months worth of meds yesterday. Fuck me, just living is expensive right now.

It's been a broke year for me. Rent is 700 and my paycheck isn't but $40-50 dollars more than that. Can't wait to move and get my science amp on.

Sheet I miss the days of $700 rent. Pretty much double it and that's what I'm paying. SuxBellyheart wrote:It's been a broke year for me. Rent is 700 and my paycheck isn't but $40-50 dollars more than that. Can't wait to move and get my science amp on.

I'm always on a shoestring budget.
But since I don't buy booze (much) nor weed anymore and a lot of my benefits are paid by the state, I manage to pull that off somehow. Granted I'm not working this season and living only on the PhD stipend is really starting to grind me down financially.

I just bought a car. I mean, my old one was basically about to explode but I already feel regret on all of the pedals I could be buying right now.
My priorities aren't straight at all.

I feel you on that haha. My wife was in an accident that totaled her car in January. We said screw it and bought her a brand new one, figured after she gets her use out of it that it will be mine to run into the ground. My job has me running about 1000 miles a week, so I'm probably going to need something at some point next year. My car currently has 166k, and I know that I will at least bring it to, if not surpass 200k by the end of the year. It's a great and reliable car, it's just that anyone would probably worry around 200k

Wow guys, I had no idea the financial binds we were all in. It's nice/depressing to get an idea of all the diverse situations we're all respectively going through.
For me, rent is pretty cheap, but I work right around 30-40 (yeah sometimes 40) hours a week at two shit jobs. Well the jobs aren't shit, but my paychecks are. I definitely make enough to get by, and have some cash left over for gear and additional bills and veer or whatever. No biggy. Earlier this year, however, I went through a rough patch with my partner and she wound up moving into a new place. We consolidated and our relationship is better than ever now, but there are still 2 apartments between the two of us and my roommate. Things were fine up until her student loans started dwindling and she didn't get the cool, reasonable-pay job she applied for. So she is working long weeks and multiple jobs, some paying just above minimum wage, and still struggling to manage rent and a car payment. So my entire gear fund for the month, which would have been more than enough to satisfy my current GAS, went to helping her keep her head above water. To make matters worse, my bank account looks like absolute shit right now, and I'm taking most of the week off to get to one of my best friend's wedding. So when it's my turn to pay rent, I'm gonna have two even shittier paychecks and hopefully have enough to cover rent, and eat for another two weeks. It's gotten to the point where I might have to hit my parents up for money, which is the most depressing thing you can so as an adult.

Oh man, I've been there. Have you/your SO tried going to your financial aid office to see if you can get a grant/loan/scholarship? I know getting loans for school is the blight of this generation, but that are still some of the best loans you can ever get in your lifetime (not to mention that you can pay them afer graduating), and if it's between that and homelessness then I rather take a small loan. But that's if there are no grants or anything else, obviously. There's a lot of resources for students, man. Just ask around.ThurberMingus wrote:Wow guys, I had no idea the financial binds we were all in. It's nice/depressing to get an idea of all the diverse situations we're all respectively going through.

On the bright side, once you pass 200k, anything that could go wrong has already gone wrong, so don't sweat it.skullservant wrote:I feel you on that haha. The plan is to get some loans come next semester. We should be able to make ends meet until then. I'm not currently a student but I'm contemplating going back to school so I can get a "student" (aka Science Amp) loanInconuucl wrote:

It's not as bad as it seems. I'm looking for a well paying/big boy job so I can work a steady 9-5 (or whatever) and have money to blow. We're still eating and paying rent. I have enough gear to keep me happy. I really need to spend some more time programming presets on my TimeLine. That alone is enough pedal to keep me occupied for the summer.
Honestly being in a band is the best killer for gas. As long as I sound good I don't feel the need to buy any more pedals or anything. We had a killer practice last night and it made me feel so awesome about my playing and gear. I still want a new reverb, but my Digiverb is performing handsomely where I need it to.

Glad to hear that, man. I'm all about education when you can get it, and having another pedal builder would be awesome.
Seriously, now that my band is starting up again I can't just flip everything every once in a while like I used to, since we already have songs that rely on certain sounds.

Re: Is everyone in ILF broke right now?
Jeez I can't imagine driving a 1000 miles a week, I'd just fine the nearest bridge and go right off of it at that pace. My dad used to drive 500 a week for work, and got 200k on his car before trading it in for the same exact car. Those Lexus LS series cars are seriously great vehicles. But around 200k yea all the little things started going to shit.skullservant wrote:I feel you on that haha. My wife was in an accident that totaled her car in January.
