1 short EP, 1 short album...about 45min total content in their discography. The only known, live footage of the band happens to be of their (best? a fav fo sho) song
Well, you can't say Squirrel Bait disappeared, it just spawned a whole lot of other great bands (Slint, Bastro, Bitch Magnet, For Carnation, Gastr del Sol). I totally miss my old bootleg cassette copy of the EP though.
I can and did, being well acquainted with the SB family tree beyond the bands you mentioned. :)*
SB as a band just seemed to vanish at their peak, they were really onto something...and I daydream about where it would have gone for a sophomore album, when hearing any of their 18 tracks.

Those albums sound better on cassette
Did you watch the Slint documentary Breadcrumb Trail? Squirrel Bait is in there, pretty sure they just naturally moved on to other things.

But you San Fran fuckers can see them at this year's popfest?!
Now why did you have to go post that? Me and the missus have been trying to chase up some of those awesome little fuckers for about 4 years now with no luck.

Mark Hollis from Talk Talk wandered off after his solo album (which was awesome jazzy/classical post-rock before the term was invented)

Caladan Brood basically hasn't had a web presence since late 2013.

I dunno if it's just me, but I can't hear the phrasing of the English horn on some of those tracks without certainty that there is an intent to emulate backwards guitar. (I think it's the English horn and not the clarinets--I never paid much mind to winds other than saxes before that album.) A strange, beautiful album.

Circus of Power. They had one hit probably in the late 80s called "motor" which was played on MTV, when they still played music videos. Great hard rock band, no idea why they broke up but some of them formed another group called "Fat Nancy" which didn't seem as good.

Their web presence just kind of stopped over the last year. I'm friends with a couple of the members on social media and it seems like their all going to school or working for Janice or doing whatever. If they were done I just wish they would release an official statement or something. They used to be my favorite band.
ya, I discovered Native on those forums two weeks ago and now I bought all their albums :) great stuff!!!

on bands that vanished, one of those I still listen to the most, even if they actually called it quits and didn't disappear out of nowhere, is These Arms Are Snakes...

On band that totally disappeared and I never knew what happened to them is Nine. Swedish hardcore/rock-n-roll from the 90's/2000's. Maybe goroth knows? :)
