Heck yea! UG would tear that up. We'd get to see all that awesome vintage goodness too. Wall of classic delay units? Sure!

I don't know this dude "Nick", but I see him a lot in these videos. He does neat stuff but I prefer the organic experiments coming out of ILF personally.

Also, UG knows how to keep a camera straight. Can't rely on nobody to hold a dang camera.

Nick is, unquestionably, a talented player and he knows his pedals (particularly the DL-4) well...

But I can only take so much of his proto-wankery before I tune out...

 proto-wankery
Every time I see "Nick Reinhart" I think "Nick Zinner" and get excited, and then realize it's not Nick Zinner.

What mask would UG wear? Would they pitch his voice up or down? So many questions!

He'd wear one of those gel face masks, but instead of gel, it would be filled with the tears of everyone he outbid on pedals. They don't have to pitch shift his voice because it naturally covers the entire sonic spectrum.

Heil Talk Box with low end provided by a vocoder run through the trogotronic 669 and cloudbuster.

UG is responsible for more GAS purchases than that Nick guy anyway. Awesome dude too.

I really think Nick just gets a kick out of playing weird shit. Their latest album was definitely highly structured and tamed compared to their older stuff. & all interviews with him come off with a pretty light and fun air. Just my opinion.

That said, I can definitely see not being into that video. I cant take that kind of stream of consiousness all the time and can empathize with apathy towards that style.

Didn't watch the linked vid, but I'm confident UG's stash is more interesting...pedal-for-pedal.

Plot twist: UG is Nick Reinhart.

On the reals; I <3 UG. Super nice duder, very informative and has made me GAS for more shit than any other demoer out there. I'm always awaiting another 'HNNNNNGH'-post in the GAS thread.

Second plot twist: UG appreciation thread! :!!!:

Nick's "proto-wankery" totally does it for me, all day.

i don't know if this sounds stupid or not but i legitimately preferred Nick's 'proto-wankery' when he was using nothing but broken Boss/Digitech etc pedals. maybe it's just the nostalgia of those sounds on the early Tera Melos material though. i feel like the new fancy effects aren't enhancing things as much as people make them out to.
either way i still have a lot of respect for him and i really don't think he intends people to take the improv in videos like this too seriously, if he thought this was his 'real' music he would be releasing albums of it but instead he's been in a bunch of projects with increasingly organised musical structures. this just showcases a nice variety of his techniques and ways of approaching pedals, and that you can start with that degree of wackiness and experimentation and still end up composing highly organised music.
