This. The last couple years, I find myself flipping my boutique pedals, which in a lot cases cost twice as much as their forgotten yamaha/boss/pearl/ibanez/mxr/dod cousins and just aren't always as straight forward and efficient. I'm not obsessed with fancy paint jobs or forum cred anyway, too many knobbies are wasted on me, and and I've never had huge problems with the lack of true bypass either
I really dig cheap gear, but some of my friends take the notion to an extreme. My local scene mainly revolves around old school punk and hardcore, and old raunchy solid state stuff is thought of as "essential"
Sometimes I'd like to think my friends are just fucking with me, but my buddy has his heart set on me finding one of these gga 120's, because "Its the loudest gorilla ever made and the damn yankees are damn heavy" What ever floats your boat man.
My thoughts exactly. It's like a dick measuring contest of who can gig the worst possible rig. You thought those line 6's were bad at your local dive, but this is the type of shit I have to deal with amongst my fellow local musicians.

Lmfao, It's been awhile since seeing the KWC gear tour, cracks me the fuck up. Probably shouldn't show it to my buddy, he's a kowloon fan, and with them repping the gorilla, whether sarcastically or not, it will only drive his gorilla gas that much more.

^ Is it?? Cant really google the info myself atm, Im on my phone with vry limited wifi connection :s
I'm curious though, cause the Boss alternative should indeed be equally cheap, even easier to get a hold of, and its as solid and durable as a pedal gets...
Dispite my fetish for old cheap pedals, my gas for a good modern muff circuit is growing stronger and stronger. Something thats somewhat versatile, tweekable, something that cuts through a mix a little better than your everyday standard bmp. And although not really a true fuzz, the new dod boneshaker has caught my attention as well.
