The Pitch thing does seem annoying, but I have the drum one so I'm not experiencing it. I thought you could change the note value but I guess not. Maybe after this hack contest is done someone will have the solution.

I am liking how ez it is to fritz out a groove on playback--very intuitive, which is a good thing since right now I have laughably little idea what I am doing with this thing. If all I ever do with it is lol out the other train passengers with my headphoned groove merchant antics, it will be well worth the moneez, but I think I could use this thing in my rig as a sort of openly dumber but secretly much smarter brother to Arpanoid or Harpeggiator, but I gotta figure out a way to trigger playback remotely....

i think u can remotely start playback by using the sync & the input jack. granted u have something that sends analog clock signals or some kind of pulse/click

I`m waiting for my PO-16 :> got a question - is it possible to mod po-16 so I could connect it to external 1-octave diy keyboard?

Would a cv work I wonder? I've got a Moog MP-201 that will send out a footswitch triggered cv envelope...I'd probs need to rig up a special cable to convert from the MP's output to the PO's sync-in....

That video with the arcade buttons is a way to do it. I think the problem is that it is in c-major which could make it weird to do strait cv. I would just make a straight kind of pocket piano like keyboard or push button like the video above. http://www.allymobbs.com/blog/?p=907 is how he did it. I dunno, you'd probably have to create a relay interface that converted CV to certain switches and then sharps and flats wouldn't work. The other thing you might be able to pull off would be like chord buttons or something. I think all it takes is trigger in like the volcas.

If you have to use the FX to make sharps and flats, maybe there is a way to map that to a button and kinda make a keyboard.

Does that sound right? I still haven't used one of these things.

Maybe program an Arduino to control a few mux circuits and maybe get things working that way? At that point you should just get a pocket piano or something?

The only way to get this to work would be (if the input can physically handle it, which is probably the case) to rewrite the firmware so that the trig input can be used as a CV input. But, obviously, only TE has the code and there's no easy way as it is to upload the firmware on these things.

So yeah, I don't think much can be done for that.

I bought the PO14 and PO16 and while they are cool little machines, their limitations are pretty obvious. Whether these limitations make them unusable in a music-making context or not for you depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it.

As far as I'm concerned, they can be nice additions to my setup and I'll try to use them with my modular but they're not likely to take a central role.
Now, if the PO16 had a polyphonic setting (even a duophonic mode could be enough), then I could use it to do a lot more things...

Still, I got what I paid for, I'm not complaining. The main issue I can see with these is the major scale thing.

I'm still planning on getting the others, but I'm really looking forward to getting a monotone and pairing it up. No stuck scale and mmmm filter. The drums on both are great but I like the layout of the po12 more since it's all out and can do just about everything the mono tribe drums are able to do.
