Yeah, I played trombone and euphonium in high school. Trombones are probably technically the "cooler" instrument both in it's place in music and mechanics (euphoniums are pretty much made redundant by french horns) but I prefered playing euphonium by a fair amount. Much prettier sounding and less of a pain in the arse because valves.

Really though, now that I'm a grown man, I would have much rather have played oboe. Shostakovich showed me that.

Oboe is a gateway instrument to bassoon. Bassoon is pretty cool.

I will never get into modular synths because I am super obsessive about cord organization.

I started to imagine in wasn't in performance bit in like the mechanics of an oboe. And this led to the idea of Dr. Gordon Callaway emergency oboe surgeon.

"my god, this is the worst broken reed I've ever seen. We don't have much time. Nurse! Get me 20 cc's of metal polish. stat!"

Yeah, I'm not completely quitting drinking, but not drinking everyday. It helps that I'm broke for the whole next week. But my band just played a show, so a few people bought me shots. I did drive there knowing I'd have to stay sober enough to drive home especially with the first major snowfall of the year.

So that was fine.

The show was ok, considering the location was in a weird spot, in between the college campus and the better side of downtown and it was the first night of snow sticking to the ground, and we got quite a lot of it. By the end of the night we were playing for one other band the bartender and like 2 other people. We're getting paid but my guitarist needed to leave before we got the cash, so I'll just have to wait until Monday for that or Saturday at the latest.

Our show next Saturday is at a much better location and should draw a much larger crowd, and hopefully pay well with free drinks to boot.

Overall, this week I've felt more lucid than I have in quite a while. I just need to make sure I get to sleep about midnight tomorrow/today.

I haven't left my apartment for the last three days, I'm too broke to go out and have one drink so I've been getting stoned and having coffee all weekend. I now have energy I can't direct.

My goal in alternate-dimension life is basically to fuck off and be a hermit in a place that still electricity and Internet access.
Like if I could live in a pastoral town
maybe not even as big as a town
and play shitty dronevocaloidgazedoomcore to an audience of raindrops and leaves
and sometimes venture into the city because this idyllic place is...y'know...not that far from a city too
a real cool city
some blade runner shit maybe
to buy music gear
and sit in parks
and watch people living their lives together and breaking my heart by doing so because i decided to fuck off and be a noisehermit but hey everything has its drawbacks
i'd go back home and gaze out again
record and post it on soundcloud
feel my heart skip a beat when someone comments on a track
then that shit would rock.
