Let me figure it up, probably won't cost any different than a normal 212 or 412. I'd actually have to pare it down to a size that isn't mammoth and flub out the speakers. I think I can do one that would work great as a 412 cause I actually thought about doing it myself after I started doing the bookcase. it'd probably be around 6-7.

Awesome, loaded?
If so, what are your default speakers?

I need to work on the sound samples. Never really done them before. I used the metal recessed handles. They look good and work really well
better than I expected really.

you just needed to have a little faith. I just like using a plain camera. to me I get a better feel for what an amp does even if it's peaking shit out or has a lot of hiss.

better than miced out shit because I don't know if the person is being honest or not that they didn't manipulate it in post production

This thread seems like the best place to ask: I want to start building cabs and am building up my tools and learning some techniques. I'll probably start with a few basic stereo speakers for the basement workshop and go up from there.

My question is: how do you all cut round speaker holes? I know there's the freehand-with-a-jigsaw method but I never was good at coloring inside the lines.

I've see plunge routers used with jigs both commercial and home made jigs. That seems like the route (pun intended bar hat) I want to go. The video below shows a home made jig and I think I could make something like this. Another question: shouldn't the bolt go al the way through the sacrificial wood below to help keep the circle centered on the last pass? And lastly: is this the best way to cut a round speaker hole for exact fit?

i dont think a plunge router is necessary for that
if you wanna save bucks skip it
for this kinda stuff
one of these bosch colts is the jam
but for sweet bevel and rounded edges
you gotta get a big boy under a table
(porter cable 6902 vs all the other shit)
youll have to see what SLK says about dovetails
my buddy does kitchen cabinet dovtails with a colt
not sure about guitar cabs cause the cuts are usually huge
if your gonna get one for everything
get the porter cable
its fucking scary good

sorry, to answer your question though
if you want perfect circles
your gonna have to make or buy a jig
if your not worried about it buy a jig-saw
either one will take practice to get em right

I use a jigsaw and then use that colt to complete it out. I have a tape measure that you pin in place and measure out the radius of the circle and you just put a pencil through and draw your circle once you find your center for placement, drill a hole jig it out, then router. To me it's easier. Maybe it isn't but I don't care cause it's what I want to do.
